Mid Year SIP has been approved. New, end of the year SIP has been introduced. A form was provided for anyone who wishes to make recommendations. Assistant Principal, Ms Abate, would love to have anyone who wishes to help her with the creation of the SIP.

Also, on the school website are the bi-laws, which need to be reviewed at the next meeting

Students Reports
Today was the senior picnic. It was very enjoyable for all.

PTSA Report
On the 27th they had Bank of America bank day. It was very informational for students, especially 18 year olds who opened bank accounts for the first time.

Saturday the 31st of March, they will host a health expo (reported by Ms Pellicer). It will be the second annual wellness expo. They are expecting 27 presenters, at McDonald Center in City Hall. Among the presenters will be Mt Sinai Hospital, Planned Parenthood, and various massage therapists, giving free massages. Everyone is invited to participate: parents, students, teachers. Ms Pellicer asked for suggestions on advertising the event to students. Ms Pellicer will provide Mr Milliken a blurb to put in morning announcements.

City of NMB has picked up the PTSA as a sponsor. The city’s logo will now be on all PTSA announcements. Ashley Jordan is the spokesperson for HIV awareness, announcements for this have been on radio station, Y-100. Text HIV to 77100 for free HIV information.

Faculty/Staff announcements
Next week will be subject selection/articulation. Students will be getting subject selection sheets next Monday and Tuesday. Parents were told to call school if they had any questions.

Administration
Mr. B. Ridore thanked everyone for attending the meeting. We will have a new magnet program next year (Capstone).
Looking forward to doing great on the FCAT next year.
Mr. Milliken thanked teachers, staff, and everyone in general for all they did for our school grade.
There are only 20 Capstone projects in the world. Of four in Dade County, we are one. Students will take a seminar course, an anchor AP course and a research course. Ivy League colleges and Universities will be paying close attention to students in these programs. It is a wonderful chance for our students to assure future success in college, while still in high school.
We will try to recruit 100 more students into iPrep.
Testing season has begun with the PERT (a college readiness test). 9th and tenth graders will be taking their tests soon. Students should be encouraged to remain focused.
Grad Bash April 20th
May 19th Prom
Graduation June 7th at UM, 9 AM. Graduating students will receive 8 tickets each.

Ms Krantz reported that Cambridge University and the College Board teamed up to come up with the concept of Capstone. It is a competitive program to IB, In Europe.

A discussion followed re: iPrep and capstone initiatives.

Motion to adjourn by Cheryl Waide, seconded by Veronica Martin.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:45
