Topics Covered:

1. Approval of Minutes: November and December meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.
Other members present: Ms. Maria Y. Rodriguez, Assistant Principal; Ms. Kativa Jerry-Edwards, First Grade Teacher; Mr. Roody Estriplet, Second Grade Teacher; and Dr. Tanesha Sewell, Third Grade Teacher.
2. SIP Reviews/Updates:
The 2012-2013 School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals and strategies were reviewed. Grade level representatives discussed ongoing implementation.
4. RtI/Leadership Team Reviews/Updates:
Teachers should identify students who are considerations for retention or are in need of intervention at this time in the year. Please see Ms. Maria Y. Rodriguez, Assistant Principal, with any questions or concerns. A “Possible Retention” form was previously provided to teachers.
SST: The process takes approximately six weeks and teachers need to provide three (3) data points in order for a student to be considered for placement by the committee. Please see Ms. Maria Y. Rodriguez, Assistant Principal, for additional clarification.
5. Title I Parent Involvement Plan (PIP):
The wish list is under consideration.
Comment (Welch): Many of the items are being denied.
6. Open Forum Discussion:
School Operations
No School Operations items.
Curriculum Issues
Crunch Time Pre-Test: The administration provided the Performance Band Report so that teachers could quickly determine the benchmarks that are not being mastered classroom wide. Item Analysis Reports, Detail Analysis Reports were not provided for this assessment to teachers as at this time we will not be debriefing this assessment. (Please refer to Crunch Time calendar and/or Instructional Focus calendar.) However, teachers will receive all the necessary data for debriefing the District Winter Interim Assessment.
Kindergarten – Second Grade assessments will be aligned to Edusoft.
Kindergarten – Fifth Grade will administer the District Winter Assessment in the areas of Reading, Math, and Science. Updated schedule/testing information forthcoming for the primary grades.
7. Budget Reviews/Updates:
The administration brought to a vote whether to purchase the sound system as discussed at the November EESAC meeting. A quote was obtained and was reviewed by the committee. The committee voted unanimously to purchase the equipment as delineated in the quote obtained through Ms. Joanne Welch, UTD Steward provided that there is an adequate amount of cordless microphones. The estimate from Sam Ash is approximately $2,400 US.
Question (Jerry): Did we obtain any other quotes?
Answer (Welch): Yes. My husband researched the best configuration for our cafeteria as well.

10. Comments/Concerns: There are no comments/concerns from parents.
Comment (Jerry): Teachers need enough time to bubble in the student responses.
Question (Moore): Could primary (which have to access points to the room) have two (2) “Do Not Disturb” signs?
Answer (Rodriguez): Yes.
Question (Sewell): Is the Science Winter Interim correlated to the District Pacing Guide?
Answer (Quintero): Yes. It is a short assessment.
Question (Jerry): Can we read the Science assessment to the students?
Answer (Rodriguez): Yes. There are no directions. Grades 1 and 2 only.
Question (Jerry): Is the Interim for primary timed?
Answer (Rodriguez): The times are a suggestion as stated in the memorandum.
Comment (Quintero): At the Reading Coach’s meeting is was suggested that teachers split their classes according to the Mid-Year Prompt scores.
Question (Moore): Can you repeat the questions on SAT-10?
Answer (Rodriguez): This question has been asked at other meetings. In order to maintain uniformity, please do not repeat the questions to the students.
Comment (Quintero): Walk around and gauge when students are finishing a question before proceeding to the next question. This applies to primary grades only.
