Other members present: Ms. Crystel Moore, First Grade Teacher; Mr. Roody Estriplet, Second Grade Teacher; and Dr. Tanesha Sewell, Third Grade Teacher, Ms. Chantea Salley, Fifth Grade Teacher.

2. SIP Reviews/Updates:
The 2013-2014 School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals and strategies were reviewed at the last EESAC meeting. Ms. Quintero, Reading Coach and Ms. Rodriguez, Assistant Principal will attend a training in May on how to draft the SIP. The SIP is a living document and is revised throughout the school year. For example, Alternate Assessments are now documented in the SIP. In sum, the State’s template requires special attention to detail and we are thankful to Ms. Quintero and Ms. Rodriguez for ensuring that we are in compliance. If you are interested in participating in the SIP committee over the summer (free of charge), please contact Ms. Klein.
Question (Sewell): How many third grade classes are proposed for next year?
Answer (Klein): Please refer to the end of year schedule. I believe there will be three.
3. RtI/Leadership Team Reviews/Updates:
Ms. Rodriguez, Assistant Principal has met about retentions for this year. Ms. Klein will meet with individual teachers about being more vigilant about identifying retention candidates.
Next year, interventions for third – fifth grade will be Success Maker. The program will be implemented in a similar way to this year’s. For example, students will complete their interventions 4 times per week in the computer lab and the homeroom teacher will provide one additional class session. We must be consistent. Ms. Klein brought in a trainer for Success Maker this year, and it needs to be used more diligently when prescribing assignments based on data.
Kindergarten through Second Grade: Voyager Interventions 5 times per week. This intervention also must be consistent. No teacher should be on Adventure 3 during the last few weeks of school.
Comment (Welch): What is the frequency of ELL interventions and LEP meetings?
Answer (Klein): We will also address this issue with Special Area teachers.
Comment (Klein): We will also address favorable grades from Special Area teachers when students are deficient in all other content area subjects.
Question (Sewell): How often are ELL meetings?
Answer (Klein): They should meet as often as SST meetings take place.
Question (Prieto): Will Imagine Learning be the intervention for ELL students?
Answer (Klein): TBA. For now, Success Maker will be used in grades 3-5.
Question (Welch): Can Kindergarten through Second grade have Success Maker (web-based version) purchased?
Answer (Klein): Budget conferences are scheduled for May 14, 2013. The only concern I have right now is not to lose a staff member.

4. Title I Parent Involvement Plan (PIP): no issues.

5. Open Forum Discussion:
School Operations: no School Operation issues.
Curriculum Issues :
Discovery Education wants to know about Reflex Math’s online drills. Students who participated in fifth grade on a trial basis enjoyed the program.
Ms. Klein is asking that next year we drill students the first two weeks of school on basic facts in addition and subtraction (Primary) and multiplication and division (Intermediate). Perhaps, Ms. Klein will be able to purchase the application so that the PC can drill the students during the 1st two weeks. If not, teachers need to.
6. Budget Reviews/Updates:
Information is pending the upcoming budget conference.
Sound system – TBD. The monies are available and will roll over to next school year. However, we will not have the equipment in time for the end of year programs.
7. Title I:
Ms. Farmer, Gracely Rodriguez, and Ms. Carmen Rodriguez will clean out Room 204, etc. There are too many unused materials in these rooms. A better inventory will be taken so as to not have duplicate orders of supplies.
8. New Business: no new business items.
9. Comments/Concerns: There are no comments/concerns from parents.
Kindergarten: No questions or concerns.
First Grade: Can we purchase flat screen T.V.s for our classrooms?
Answer (Klein): No. We are not even allowed to purchase Smart Boards. Technology items are not being ordered at this time.

Third Grade: No questions or concerns.
Fourth Grade: No questions or concerns.
Fifth Grade: No questions or concerns.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
