EESAC Meeting Minutes
Call or order
Time: 4:30 p.m.

Ms. Amparo Quintero, EESAC Chairperson, opened the meeting.

Review/Approve Prior Meeting Minutes
EESAC reviewed and approved prior meeting minutes unanimously. The roster for last meeting will be updated accordingly.

School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Goals are not met as the SIP is a “live” document and implementation of goals is ongoing. There is a waiver that is part of this document that stipulates that due to the enrollment size of the school, we are allocated a supplemental that allows us certain positions to be used to meet the SIP goals. The number of teachers determines the number of grade level chairpersons in the school. As such, every year we vote to waive, this number in order to have one (1) grade level chairperson per grade level versus what is actually allocated to our site: one for every two grade levels. EESAC will vote as to whether the staff will vote tomorrow regarding the waiver to have one grade level chairperson per grade level. EESAC voted unanimously to bring the issue before the staff for their vote. The consensus of EESAC is to keep grade level chairperson positions as is. Ballots will be used in tomorrow’s voting process. The vote needs two-thirds approval to pass.

RtI/Leadership Team Reviews/Updates
RTi (Response to Intervention): No new items. There are thirty (30) referrals that the team is in the process of reviewing.

Open Forum/Discussions
School Operations

Saturday School is being offered for selected students in grades 4 and 5. We will be starting our fifth Saturday session this week. Students are given instruction in Reading and Math.

There is an upcoming sanitation audit this month. Custodial staff is working on Saturdays. They are concentrating their efforts on the custodial closets, P.E. shed, and bathrooms. Our goal is to improve upon last year’s score.

Curriculum Issues
Wonderworks Intervention materials are available online. We have not received any other kits.

Budget
Our school was initially given $10,000 to fund interventionists. However, this amount was not enough and the funds were depleted quickly. The Educational Transformation Office (ETO) will however, provide additional funding for two (2) interventionists.
We have placed some orders for custodial supplies, paper, etc. We have used remaining funds on PCs that will be placed in Dr. Rivera’s classroom. These computers will be used for computer based testing. K-1 will be the next recipients of upgraded computers.
Comment (Hume): Ms. J. Hernandez has issues with her computers and she conducts testing in her classroom.
Answer (Dr. Riaz): Ask her to open a Heat ticket so we can assess the problem.

New Business

Comments/Concerns
Question (Dr. Rivera): Are we partnering with Walmart?
Answer (Rosario): We are in the process of partnering with Walmart.

Comment (C. Moore): Update: The Marlins are already scheduled to appear at other locations. We will try again next school year.

Comment (Dr. Riaz):
Next Thursday, we will be surprising the students in the upper grades with a visit from Bernie from the Miami Heat and Duke Wilson (University of Miami – Running Back). I would like to thank the Broadmoor Social Committee and PTA for organizing and funding this event for our students.
April 10th is “Take Your Child to Work Day”. We have planned a pep rally for Kindergarten and First Grade.
