SIP/Action Plan Reviews/ Data Updates
Goals and Strategies
The SIP is the school improvement plan and it is a living document that is always changing. We modify it when we need to improve student achievement.
Our instructional review was internal and it was delivered by the assistant principal Dr. Galceran, the principal, (myself) and Miss Quintero our Reading Coach. The first area to improve upon is writing and we need to make sure teachers are teaching the whole writing process. In mathematics, we would like to see more teacher comments in journals and math books. These are the goals we are working on towards in our school
improvement plan. -Riaz
Can we find on our school website?-
The SIP was approved by the EESAC Board. (Quintero)

iready
iReady is program used for reading and math. We test three times a year and next week are doing a growth monitoring assessment. Riaz

Differentiated Instruction
Differentiated instruction is when the teacher teaches to meet the specific needs of their students at the student’s instructional level. As a school 19% of our students are at grade level in Reading and 17% at mathematics. This could be due to Summer regression, as some are Rusty, our school goal is to is to earn a grade of a “B” we need at least 50% of proficiency. We are aware that our 4th and 5th graders did their iReady assessment the second week of school and the students had very little instruction. We need 60% of our students to make gains in order to produce learning gains as a school. -Riaz

When we use Power BI third grade is at 28%. We set goals as a class and we also try to motivate students to set goals for themselves. The teachers meet up with students and hold data chats to help them track their progress. -Riaz

Math Topic Assessments/FSA Weekly Assessments
Student are coming home saying they have a test. The tests are aligned to the teaching and standards. Parents can see under their student portal that the children are testing based on the standards. We have changed from the old ways now we test the standards that are taught. This can be monitored through their online student digital book. The Florida Standards Assessment or the FSA is a little different based on a two-week teaching cycle which provides the student of variety of reading texts. In order for the students to be successful, the teachers are teaching the same thing standard they are learning in whole group instruction during differentiated instruction time. That's why it takes so long to assess. We use trackers to monitor their progress. -Riaz

Parent Family Engagement Plan
We plan to increase parental involvement. The plan is long and we have copies in the main office and it is on our school website.-Rosario

Parent Academy
The Parent Academy teaches parents how to get into the portal, how to get to the textbook students are using in class, and how to prepare your taxes. They are trying to provide ways to help parents with resources. -Riaz

School Parent Compact
We would like to establish the parents in our school and have them assist with the academic achievement of our all our students. -Riaz

Professional Development Opportunities
October 2nd and October 27th are days the teachers sign up for professional development opportunities. -Riaz

Do we have anything here yet? They didn't have anything when I went on today. -Jerry

Look on the pages I sent you today- Quintero

EESAC Roster
Last week Wednesday, we had a parent meeting. Every year we must amend our EESAC roster. Parents must serve a one-year term to be a part of the EESAC board. There is a difference between being on the EESAC board and attending the meetings. Anyone can attend the meetings, but in order to have a voting right you must be on the board. -Riaz

Tyesha Williams is our alternate parent. Ileana Paz and Grace Mercado are the students who will serve on our EESAC board. -Rosario

Distribution emails will be given to parents. We have two new business partners. Daniel Monert owns a truck diesel company and Josefina Romero who works for Mass Mutual. All new names will be given by Dr. Riaz. -Rosario

RTI
We are working on increasing our gifted enrollment. We ask teachers to recommend students in academic behavior in any form.-Galceran

Leadership Team Reviews
No updates at this time. -Riaz

School Operations
We gave a copy of the budget to interested parents. Our school has grown and we have we have secured opening a Kindergarten class and we have also secured a bilingual teacher. She will go into the class to assist during differentiated instruction. Our Spanish teacher is also a permanent position. -Riaz
Curriclum Issues
No updates at this time. -Riaz

STEM Designation
I was a science coach. I love science! We would like to be a STEM School. Stem STANDS FOR science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In order for us to be a STEM school we need to have a pre-assessment, we have to participate in the science fair, teachers have to participate in training and professional development throughout the year. Once the scores come back from the FSA we could earn a Bronze gold or silver medal it's all based on points. -Galceran

Budget Reviews/updates
Final Budget Conference
We have increased in enrollment. Class size will scale back to 17 through 19 students per class. We are a little extended over and low and funds. We usually buy laptops for all our grade levels but this year we will focus on purchasing laptops for third grade. We're still considering purchasing Chromebooks. This is how Bill 769 impacted our funds. The superintendent Carvalho will file to appeal that house bill. -Riaz

Will we be able to get additional laptops for our carts? We need six more since we have 25 kids and we only have 19 laptops. -Jerry

Title One
Amazing meeting PTA got involved.-Rosario

Do we have anything in place for United Way? -Jerry

We do. It will be going out in a week. It's going to be the same time as Red Ribbon Week. Our challenge is double this year last year it was only $1 per student, this year we would like to ask for $2. That is what PTA is doing. -Rosario

Can we do a back to school dance? -Jerry

There is an activity for every day of the week. It costs $5 a week to participate. The winning class will have a pizza party. We wanted to do something different this year.-Quintero

United Way’s focus is to identify and resolve pressing community issues and to make measurable changes in communities through partnerships with schools, government agencies, businesses, organized labor, financial institutions, community development corporations, voluntary and neighborhood associations, the faith community, and others. The main areas include education, income, and health. United Way helps a lot of family with food, shelter and clothing. We usually start fundraising in September up to November. The district tries to collect for this charity to service our community. We collect from our teacher and students. We have students participate in various activities to drive the charitable process to meet our goals. Students can wear a hat or crazy socks for them to help the community. -Riaz

The teacher collects the money and hands it in every day.-Quintero

Concerns
Can we do a staggered dismissal on Wednesdays? I feel sorry for Ms. Rosario. The kids look forward to getting their ice cream but it's a bit much. Maybe we can sell ice cream 10 minutes prior to dismissal. Ms. Rosario is only supposed to work until 1 p.m. We don't want the PTA to be all about ice cream.-Jerry

It would be an issue of enforcement of when we can distribute the ice cream then the parents would have call-in and it would be a bit too much.-Riaz

Motion to adjourn -Rosario
Motion carried (C. Moore)
Adjourned 4:37pm.
