School Improvement Plan/Action Plan Reviews/ Data Updates

Goals and Strategies
The SIP has remained the same. If Core instruction quality increases student achievement will increase. We have tailored the Saturday School Curriculum to the needs of the students. We are doing this by using Power BI to remediate the lowest standards. -Riaz

SIP Mid-Year Reflection
G1. If core instruction is improved in all content areas, then there will be an increase in student achievement. The goal has not been achieved. Desired progress is being made to accomplish the goal.

Evidence: There is evidence that progress is being made to accomplish this goal. The following data elements
support evidence of progress towards the goal:
- Alignment of planning and student work. Lessons are presented clearly and skillfully using explicit
instruction.
- Writing process is evident in student journals. Teachers are providing timely feedback to students.
- Evidence of instructional planning. Teachers are utilizing appropriate pacing and are maximizing
instructional time for student learning.
- Differentiated Instruction Work Folders / Student Work Folders; Teachers utilize data to respond to
students' developmental levels
- Use of Data Trackers - Teachers help students understand assessment criteria, monitor, and reflect
on their work.
- Increase of ELA Proficiency Rates (Nineteen percent increase from 2017-2018 iReady AP1 as compared to 2017-2018 iReady AP2)
- Increase of Mathematics Proficiency Rates (Twenty-six percent increase from 2017-2018 iReady AP1 as compared to 2017-2018 iReady AP2)
-Science Proficiency: Forty-Three percent of students are proficient on the 2018 Science Mid-Year Assessment. (The 2017-2018 school goal for Science Proficiency was established at 40%.)
G1.B1 There is limited evidence of teachers providing timely and specific feedback to students. This barrier has been reduced.

Evidence:
Data is utilized to determine the activities and lessons that are provided during differentiated instruction. This discussion takes place during collaborative planning sessions. The original strategies for this barrier are being implemented with fidelity as designed

Evidence:
Teachers are differentiating lessons provided at the teacher led center based on data obtained from iReady. Saturday Academy lessons are selected based on Science Mid-Year Assessment results and Mathematics Topic Assessment results- Riaz

Motion to approve the SIP Reflection- Riaz

Motion second and approved- Quintero

iReady Usage
iReady Growth Monitoring will begin this Friday March 16, 2018. It will end on March 22, 2018 and should be completed by Tier 2 and Tier 3 students during their differentiated instruction time. -Quintero

Math Topic Assessments
We are currently finishing the topics that are in the Go Math book series. We don’t stop teaching math but most of the topics after we finish the math series are created by the district. -Riaz

On March 15, 2018, Kindergarten will finish the Math Topic 12 assessment, and first grade to third grade will finish their Math Topic 11 assessments. -Quintero

Is it the same thing for kindergarten? - Welch

Yes, now the district uses CPALMS lessons and other resources to review skills for the next grade. -Galceran
Science Topic assessment
On March 16, 2018 fifth grade will finish the Topic 13 assessment. We will use PowerBI to remediate standards our students are struggling with. -Riaz

Professional Development Opportunities
Our professional development opportunities are as follow:
-Orton Gillingham Professional Development in the summer (Deadline to enroll is April 9th, 2018.)
-Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Teacher Leader PD
-Monthly Online PD In Focus Training (ongoing)-Quintero

All professional development that is available for our staff to take is posted in the Professional Development Channel on the Slack Application. All the available Professional development opportunities are archived since the beginning of the school year on this application. -Riaz

Florida Standard Assessment Reading
We continue to address standards our students need to improve upon using an Instructional Focus Calendar. The Instructional Focus Calendar was created using the FSA Reading Topic assessment tracker that teachers update after assessing taught standards. We focused on the reading standards the students struggled with the most. -Riaz

When do we find out the writing scores? -Welch

We never truly find out how the students score on their writing assessment we just know that how they do on the writing assessment is combined to their total reading score. It can be up to ten points to each students’ score. That’s why it’s called the FSA ELA assessment. -Riaz

RTI / Leadership Team Reviews / Updates
The RTI team went to a training in which we are implementing new changes to the referral process. We will no longer have two or three meetings to service a child, since it is time consuming and sometimes difficult for the parent to make it to all meetings. Now we will only have one meeting and get all the required documentation signed to evaluate a student. We are currently working on assisting Ms. Budowsky the school psychologist in getting a baseline before we meet with the parents to speed up the process. So far, we have been able to meet with more parents using this method. -Galceran

Open Forum/ Discussion
School Operations
Mr. Kawonne Canadate has begun as the Lead custodian. He is doing such a great job keeping the school looking great. -Riaz

Yes! He is taking great pride in doing the landscaping and will even ask me if the kids are testing today so he does not disturb testing. -Galceran

The school looks great! He is such a hard worker and loves to help!- Welch

Will we have someone cut the tall grass by the office? -Welch

We are unable to do that yet since we agreed with Royal Caribbean to wait for our custodial staff to be trained on how to take care of specific plants in the school. I will send them an email. I believe Southern Blossoms is the landscaping company in charge of training the custodial staff. I will also email them. -Riaz

Will we get a playground? -Welch

So far, Royal Caribbean has been unable to do that because they need to pull permits from the county. But we have a Bond that will begin taking place before the schoolyear ends in which we will get windows in the classroom, demolish a building and replacing it with a new one. In that bond we will also get a new playground. -Riaz

We have updated our school security. We have locked the back gate that was open to ensure one point of entry. We have asked students and staff to wear their Identification badge to make sure we stay safe and we know that everyone belongs in the building. -Riaz

Curriculum Issues
This Saturday will be the last session of Saturday school. -Riaz

Budget Reviews / Updates
The laptops for third grade have arrived. We will begin imaging them and distribute them to the third grade staff.-Riaz

Title One
We won second place in the Parent Advisor Council for having the most parents participate from our school. It was a wonderful sight! I had a parent celebrating like she was a kid in a candy store! It was a great surprise! Go Broadmoor! The trophy is in the main office for all of us to share! -Rosario

New business
Comments/Concerns
The Early childhood committee is continuing to push Pre-k and Kindergarten to increase our student enrollment. We were told Principals would be trained to develop strategies to increase enrollment. For example, having parents write their information down to facilitate the enrollment process and help them throughout. -Welch

In my office I always assist parents in anything they need to register them into our school. I have computers set up and assist them throughout the application process. -Rosario

On our school website under About Us Tab we have the application document uploaded so parents can download, print it and fill it out without having to come to the school to get the information needed for enrollment. Under the Contact Us Tab parents are encouraged to send me a message about any concerns they have regarding enrollment. -Riaz
