BUDGET/CAPACITY
• We are currently in the funding period. 328 students are enrolled in the middle school, 246 in the high school, and 60 in the international school.
• On March 24th we will be asking that the enrollment capacity for the middle school be increased.
• Registration for next year has already begun. So far 20 new students are already enrolled and appointments are pending.
• Mater Academy of International Studies, which is housed at this location, received a grant for $225,000. This grant will be used to increase technology, purchase books, and a school library.

CURRICULUM
• Courses have been semesterized in different subjects, including Finance and Business classes to better prepare our students’ academic resumes.
• Mater East High received a “B” on the new grading scale. This was in large part because of our high graduation rate and the number of students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses.
• Parents questioned how we compare to preparatory schools.
• We have begun working on the master schedule for the 2011-2012 school year.
• In an effort to better serve our students, Mater Academy will be offering summer school.
• Mater Academy East has entered into a partnership with St. Thomas University. Our students will be using the science labs at St. Thomas and their science teachers will be coming to our school. The university will also be used for research, and in addition to this, our teachers will be taking courses for ELL endorsement.
• Our board approved a Reading program for FCAT enhancements. Students who score a Level 1-3 on the previous year’s FCAT will have an extended school day.

ATHLETICS
• The boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball seasons just finished. Both were very successful; the girls went undefeated.
• Baseball begins at the end of February.
• Girls flag football will begin in March.

ACTIVITIES
• Graduation will be held at the Manuel Artime Theatre
• February 22nd will be Mater Night at the Miami Heat Game

• Members will officially approve the plan once the district releases all the necessary information.
