Approval of Last Meeting Minutes dated 10-22-11
Motion to approve the minutes – Valerie Rodgers ---- Second by Susana Perez
APPROVED: The Board unanimously approved the EESAC meeting minutes from 10-22-11.

Discussion Items:

1. Membership Roster----Alex Tamargo
Ms. Slater was the only parent to express an interest in joining EESAC and submitted her biography. The Board unanimously voted in favor of Ms. Slater becoming a member.
2. FCAT---Alex Tamargo
FCAT retake scores came out today. All but 2 seniors passed the exam and are on track for graduation. The 2 seniors that did not pass will be tutored on an individual basis by the reading coaches and will take the test in the spring. More than 50% of student who took the mathematics test passed.

Data--- Alex Tamargo
We need more intervention in reading. There are 25 11th graders that did not pass the test. These students fall within our lowest 25%. We are reviewing our school-wide data and have come up with a plan of action that will be included in our mid-year SIP review. Student needs will be addressed through SES, in school pull-out tutoring, Saturday School, and after-school tutoring. We will target students according to the data, and we will be meeting with parents to inform them of the selected plan of action for the child.
We are still DA schools and we anticipate our high school grades coming out soon.
3. Guidance update ---Irv Greenberg
We anticipate having an 80% graduation rate. The reason for this is that students who transfer out of our school and do not graduate still count against us.
4. Title I Budgets---Alex Tamargo
We had to revise the Title I Budgets for all 3 schools because 10% of the funds allocated need to be used towards professional developments.
5. Athletics--- Jeff Frawley
Boys Flag Football finished the season 7-1 and will begin playoffs November 1st. Mr. Alfredo Coronel was hired as the girls’ basketball coach. He will meet with the team tomorrow. Their season begins in mid-November. We are running an intermural basketball league afterschool which is directed by Mr. Albani.
6. Lunch Audit---Alex Tamargo
The lunch audit went extremely well and Leony Martin is to be commended because the lunch applications were flawless.
7. School Website---Alex Tamargo
The school website is up at www.matereastmiddle.com and it is a work in progress
8. Activities---Susana Perez
• Fright Night 10/27/11 4-6 Dance 7-9 Haunted House
• U Mater Campaign/Spirit Week November 1st -19th
• School Calendar is on the website
• Title I Budgets---Alex Tamargo
We had to revise the Title I Budgets for all 3 schools because 10% of the funds allocated need to be used towards professional developments.

Table was opened for questions. Ms. Slater asked if we had the funds to purchase the server and Mr. Tamargo explained that we did.
