Topics Covered:

Ms. Belkin opened meeting at 8:30 a.m. reporting on FCAT writing scores sucessful focused on writing.

Mrs. Spicer reported that there has been a technology increase and more hands on in science.

Mr. Bueno discussed lab rotation of science teachers and a para should be assigned with a flexible schedule.

P.E.- Coach Covone discussed things that were of importance but nor related to the SIP. She proposed a grant focusing on health and awareness for faculty. After school group have been in progress.

Math- Mrs. Freman reported that there is more hands on in mathematics. There has also been a greater use of rubrics on mathematics projects. Getting advanced students prepared for high school has become the primary focus of the geometry and algebra classes.

Reading- Ms. Conroy reported that the reading department is currently working on completing IPEGS. She reported that rotation into computer makes reading more interesting. The Language! program is working well according to Ms. Hildenbrand.

Social Studies-Mr. Ramos reported that they collaborated with Language Arts to complete the focus calendar. There has also been a focus on character education.

There was a special thank you to the PTSA. Mr. Bueno said that the school closing procedures will be initiated.Teachers are assistin with arrival/dismissal and in monitor halls. Education is still the primary focus and he anticipates more departmental meetings next year.

Mrs.Lebena anticipated planning for next year during the summer or early next year.

There is a motion to meet again by Ms. Cartwright and seconded Ms. Conroy. Ms. Belkin will be notifying the committee of the scheduled time.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55. It was motioneed to adjourn by Ms. Covone and seconded by Ms. Hobson.
