EESAC Minutes – January 25, 2011 – Country Club Middle School

The seventh EESAC meeting of the 2010-2011 school year commenced on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 5:00 pm by EESAC Chairperson, Mrs. Linda Belkin. The minutes from the previous EESAC meeting was presented and read by Mr. Ramos. Mr. Uz motioned to approve the minutes and Ms. Covone second the motion and the minutes were approved. The first item on the agenda after approving the minutes was the Country Club Middle School Dress Code for students for the 2011-2012 school year. A discussion was held by all board members on the different options for uniform changes, including different options for shirt and pant colors. Mr. Fernandez and Ms. Covone both made a motion to keep a uniform policy of some kind for the 2011-2012 school year. Ms. Conroy second the motion. All board members agreed that to keep a safe and positive learning environment, as reflected in the School Improvement Plans goals, a student uniform of some kind is necessary. All EESAC board members decided that the colors and options will be determined at a later date. Mr. Gil then made a motion to use the remaining EESAC funds for printer toner and bulbs for the SmartBoard projectors. Ms. Leon second the motion. The remaining EESAC funds total $3,431.05 but some teachers have yet not used their allocated money for some of the programs and resources that were going to be funded by EESAC. Mr. Uz and the other board members agreed that the deadline date of February 22, 2011 will be set to use the money for the allocations granted back in December and then with the remaining amount, the board will move ahead with the motion on how much money to spend on the printer toners and SmartBoard projector bulbs. Again, as reflected in the School Improvement Plan, technology integration is a critical piece of student achievement in the classroom. The last item on the agenda was a presentation of the Miami Dade County Public Schools Financial Outlook for the future and it was introduced by Mr. Fernandez. After the presentation, Ms. Martin made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Mr. Fernandez second the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 pm.
