Meeting was called to order at 8:17 a.m.


Miyar begins by welcoming all attendees and having everyone introduce themselves.


Heras motion to approve minutes as corrected. Leon second the motion. The motion passed.


Principal’s update - Mrs. Villazon


Hydroponic garden is coming along nicely.
Winter Expo will be held December 7th at 6 p.m. at American Senior High School. It will showcase feeder pattern electives.
Visits from elementary schools went well. We are now hosting parent campus tours. Parents can call Mrs. Belcher to schedule tour. We had a parent who had a child from Hibiscus Elementary (non-feeder pattern school) schedule a tour.
79 magnet applications to date. January 15th deadline for magnet applications.
Magnet Fair only had 5 parents in attendance. Rescheduled Magnet fair is being discussed with mailer flyers used as advertisement.
Iprep Parent Overview Night - targeted students were those not being successful in iPrep. Individual phone calls were made and the night was a success.
Barbara Goleman will visit 8th grade classrooms TODAY (4 individual classes). High schools are making appointments to go to individual classrooms to speak to the kids.
School Improvement Plan was approved last meeting.
Faculty data chats are being held now departmentally with the administrative staff.
iReady AP2 counts as the mid-year assessment. We are anticipating growth.
Website - Prado met with the webmaster. The new website should be up and running by January 9th, 2017.


Testing updates - Mrs. Leon
iReady testing starts after Thanksgiving and will take place for two weeks. There will be incentives attached to AP2. Waiting for Prado’s approval.

Bylaws updates to be done by March to the roster
After December, we can change our composition since we are a smaller school now.
We must submit a waiver for roster.
To cancel meeting, you must give two days notice.
Emergency meetings need to be indicated in the minutes
You need a quorum at an emergency meeting.
You have to be present to vote.
Alternates can only vote to replace someone in a similar position.


We might be eligible for school recognition money for going from a D to a C.


Heras motioned to amend the bylaws to match the roster. Evelyn Rodriguez second the motion. Motion unanimously passed.


New Business - Ms. Karan-Miyar


Attendance Boundary Committee
We're not on the targeted schools list. Villazon motioned to keep our attendance boundaries as is. Leon second the motion. Unanimously motion passed. Signed by EESAC chair, student representative and principal representative.


EESAC funds $2999 can be transferred to the principal’s fund for student incentives, recognition certificates, etc. Could be possible website money. Leon motions that we transfer $2,999 to the principal’s budget for student incentives. Heras second the motion. Unanimous vote. Motion passed.


Announcements
Parents and pancakes event on Tuesday sponsored by our Dade Partner - Denny’s. They will be honoring the 1st nine-weeks Honor Roll Students.
Evelyn Rodriguez of Miami Dade College will be finalizing partnership with Mrs. Isla. Also, Miami Dade College will be sponsoring Microsoft workshops for Microsoft Office 365..






Student Update - Jason Certain
Bathrooms are dirty. There are writings on the wall. Villazon assured that the issue will be resolved.




PTSA
Ms. Perez has interested parents for the PTSA. On December 5th, there will be an initial meeting. A connect ed reminder will be sent out. Miyar will call an official to help get the PTSA started.


YMCA


Fall Festival (October 28th) - a lot of CCMS students attended. It was a successful event.
Zumba for the teachers was awesome.


Miyar moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:52 a.m. Heras seconded the motion. The next meeting will be December 15th in room 64 at 8:00 am.
