Magnet applications - We have 96 applications to date. We are up to par with other established magnet schools which have on average 101 applications.
School website is being created and should be ready for debut by the first week of January. EESAC money is not going to be used to pay for the website.
The School Improvement Plan needs minor changes at the mid-year review. The discussion will be held at the January EESAC meeting.
AP2 for iReady is in progress. This is used as a progress monitoring tool for Math and Literacy.
At the department chair meeting, the idea of having another Magnet Fair before January 15th was discussed. Miami Dade College and YMCA are invited to have a table at the fair. Parent letters will be sent via US Mail before December 23rd. $300 worth of stamps were bought for this effort.
Isla and Villazon will be handling the subject selection process. We have reached out to schools down in the South Region for great examples of the subject selection process. Our goal is to adequately service the gifted kids.
Recruitment efforts include
School Website
Letter to neighborhood parents
Magnet Fair
Tweets that “we are a Cambridge School”
Focus on Science in the Cambridge program
PTSA - Ms. Perez is doing a great job. There was standing room only at the initial meeting.
Assistant Principal Updates - Mrs. Villazon
Last year’s PTSA received an honorable dismissal. Parents that were on the board abandoned the position.
This year’s parents seem to have great chemistry and are really excited to reestablish the PTSA.
Membership for the PTSA is $10 per family.
Mr. Gainie will come back to reestablish the PTSA.
Data chats - Administration met with every teacher in a tested area and discussed progress.
AP2 for iReady should be concluding soon. 14 left to be tested in math and 7 left to be tested in Reading.

Website will not be paid for by EESAC money. Funds will be allocated for student incentives.
Villazon indicated that iReady reports will be pulled to see how kids did on the iReady test and incentives will be funded by EESAC. Next year, we plan to improve by pushing incentive programs prior to testing.
