Principal Updates:

Ms. Villazon, Assistant Principal sitting on behalf of Mr. Crespo who is in a Principal's Meeting.

Currently I am in the process of opening some gifted classes for 7th and 8th graders who are on the gifted program. We revamped the ESOL program as far as scheduling to make the students placed by ESOL level.

School Improvement Plan:

Ms. Miyar emailed everyone the SIP to review and approve during today's meeting. Every year schools have to do a SIP and identify 2 areas where the school needs improvement in. One is regarding school culture and the other is academics. We obtain data driven information from the school climate survey, this survey is given to a random selection of students and parents. Based on the student school climate survey. They identified that the area of concern is the cleanliness of the school. However, we have had perfect sanitation audits for the last 3 years. It is a small representation of the student body with only about 60 kids answering the survey out of 730 students. I will be meeting more regularly with custodians and doing classroom walkthroughs making sure everything is kept up. In Academics, the area that we dropped in the most was Mathematics, this area we are heavily focusing on this year. The year prior Science was our focus and we did quite a few strategies, we went up 6 percentage points in Science. This year we have incorporated Intensive Math for the level 2 students. An additional Algebra class to reinforce and make sure that the students pass the EOC. We are going to have support from he district for Mathematics, Mathematics camps, and tutoring. These are the two areas that we are going to vote on.

Karan-Miyar asks for a motion to approve the SIP
Ms. Evelyn Rodriguez motions to approve the SIP
Mr. Jose Carcamos Seconds the Motion
The Motion is approved and carries

Title I Updates:

Ms. Dominguez-our Community involvement specialist

The Title I representatives Parent Representatives are: Marcela Pena, Rita Dozier, Elda Estrada.
In the DAC meeting they will vote on this.

Family Engagement Plan was distributed. A letter stating that this year we are a Title I school and also the parent Compact. The Parent Compact should list on the left hand side the Country Club Middle School guidelines and the parents will. The parent compact is a comparison between the rights of the school and the rights of the parents; for example; Parents have the right to a PTC, being informed of students progress or failure. As a Community Involvement Specialist I work directly with the parents and the students. I make sure that you can create a parent portal to ensure you have access to your child's grades and any questions you may have you can speak to me, Ms. Dominguez.
