Topics Covered:

The Coral Gables Senior High School EESAC meeting was called to order at 2:50 pm by Stephanie Hofmann, chairperson. The minutes of the April 11, 2008 meeting were reviewed and accepted. There were no corrections.

Kudos and Thanks were given to the PTSA for the faculty luncheon they sponsored and the excellent music which was provided as well by the PTSA.

I. School Improvement Plan (SIP) End-of-Year Review was presented by Ms. Otero, Assistant Principal. The majority of all areas of the SIP show ongoing improvement. There were several questions from members of the EESAC on seniors, and college services; also how many seniors who graduate actually attend college. Ms. Otero will check on figures. By consensus, the EESAC approved the SIP End-of-Year Review.

II. ESSAC Funds of $1,087.00 were previously allocated to pay for the Awards Ceremony. All who attended said it was beautiful; and well attended. Some EESAC members felt the ceremony should go back to the Biltmore. The reception or lack there of was discussed. Mrs. Watson, PTSA President, said that had she known, the PTSA might have been able to provide refreshments. Much discussion followed as to the location of next year’s Awards Ceremony. By consensus, The EESAC agreed to transfer the monies to the Internal Funds account to pay for the decorations, rented plants and such.

III. An amendment to the Uniform Policy was presented. Ms.Gans proposes doing away with Spirit Day (wearing jeans and spirit shirts on Friday), if the student body does not follow the uniform policy. After much discussion, by consensus Ms.Gans’ request was approved by the EESAC. More discussion ensued on punishing repeat offenders of the dress code.

IV. Open Forum
Mr. Zequieria –Highlights won 3 journalism awards
Teachers and 8 period day

Last meeting of year

Thanks to ALL!!!!!!!

Adjournment, 3:45 pm

Special note: On May 15, 2008, it was brought to Ms. Hofmann’s attention that the exact amount for Item # 2 was $1, 084.00, not $1, 087.00. Let it be known that the exact amount of $1, 084. 00 was paid out of the ESSAC fund; otherwise we would have to wait until call a special meeting or wait until next year.
