The Coral Gables Senior High School EESAC meeting was called to order at 2:50 pm by Stephanie Hofmann, Chairperson. A sign –in roster was passed around for attendance. Introductions were made by all present. The agenda was issued. The minutes from the October 12, 2009 meeting were reviewed. A correction was made to Mark Trowbridge’s name. It was moved and properly seconded to accept the minutes pending the correction.
Agenda
I. SIP update-Dr. Diaz distributed the ‘Performance Band Report’ for the Interim Assessment Test (October 2009). He discussed the data presented in the report. The overall performance in Reading for grades 9, 10, & 11/12 was ‘Insufficient Progress’. The overall performance in Math for 9th and 10th graders was ‘Satisfactory Progress’ however, 11th /12th graders showed ‘Insufficient Progress’. Finally, the overall performance for Grade 11th Science was ‘Insufficient Progress’.
II. SACS- Ms. Pooler discussed the accreditation process and how Gables is beginning the process now to prepare for it’s accreditation in 2011.
III. School Security-Principal Costa delineated new security measures being implemented; the hall electronic monitors are working, Gables received the SERVE grant. We have a number in place for students to call in crimes (Student new Hot line -305.443.5188).
IV. Open Forum
A. FCAT tutoring is sponsored by Title One monies
B. The PLAN and EXPLORER will be offered to juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in preparation for Pre-ACT. Nov. 19th deadline to apply, and Dec. 10th testing administration.
