Topics Covered

The Coral Gables Senior High School EESAC meeting was called to order at 2:50pm, by Stephanie Hofmann, EESAC chairman. A quorum was established. The minutes of the February 9, 2004 EESAC meeting were presented. Mr. Blackmon made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded. By consensus, the minutes were approved as presented.

Ms. Hofmann distributed copies of the SPEP Midyear Review of Progress document. She stated that this review took place on February 24th at the Access Center IV office. Ms. Alvarez briefly discussed the contents of the document. Dr. Martinez stated that the Access Center IV personnel present for the review were impressed with the document.

Ms. Hofmann read a letter of response from Miami-Dade School Board member Frank Cobo concerning the scheduling of FCAT testing days on Saturdays.

Ms. Hofmann distributed copies of our Vision and Mission statements. She stated that the faculty will discuss this topic at the next faculty meeting, which will be held on March 23rd. EESAC does have input in the formulation of these statements and may request changes if there is a consensus of EESAC members.

Ms. Slingbaum asked about the date that the results of the FCAT writing test will be given to the schools. Ms. Alvarez stated that the results of the FCAT writing, reading, math, and science tests should be received by the end of May.

Ms. Rodriguez will present an EESAC budget update at the next EESAC meeting. She stated that the fenced area in the girls’ locker room has been completed and that the projector has been purchased.

Ms. Cater announced that there was an article about our FBLA students in the Neighbors section of The Miami Herald. She announced that the PTSA meets tonight at 7pm and there will be a presentation about child abuse.

Ms. Hofmann announced that the next EESAC meeting will be held on Monday, April 12, 2004, at 2:45pm, in the Media Center. Ms. Hofmann adjourned the meeting at 3:15pm.
