I.) Mr. Luzardo opened the meeting with a review of the minutes

II.) Dorothy Alexis motioned to approve the minutes (with corrections) Martin seconded

III.) Dr. Volcy went over procedures

a. End of year assurances were reviewed and discussed
b. Does the waiver for composition have to be updated even though it is reflected on the minutes
c. SIP Review – Department chairs will be giving feedback on SIP progress in planning for next year

IV.) Funds ($600) allocated for a group competition was not used and is now reverted back to the EESAC funds
a. Martin made motion – That the $600 overage be reallocated for classroom supplies purchased at the principal’s discretion – seconded by Jose Brito

a. May 1 Awards assembly went over well
b. May 18-22 Senior Spirit Week
c. May 8 Prom, students, mayor breakfast
d. Partnership with clubs and organization are moving towards more programs to unify and beautify the campus

a. Testing an issue on the forefront

a. Summer Transition program has increased possible enrollment (Dade College)
X.) Faculty/Staff
a. N/A
XI.) Principal
a. George – Will be over to begin the process of establishing a Dual Enrollment program with Dade College
b. Graduation – June 2
c. $2500 award – Natalie – Aventura Council – Sports
d. Youth Fair – Dorothy was awarded a scholarship
e. Bill Gates Scholarship – out of 1000 awarded possible slots – 3 of them were from NMB
f. 4 POSEE scholarship recipients
g. Rafael Louise – 500 role models
h. AP testing has begun this week
i. Budget – will be slimmer for next year (FTE is now less per pupil than it was in previous years)
j. Assistant Principal, Dr. Challenger is working on the master schedule
k. Working on preliminary budget (currently staff allocations will be decreased)
l. Community involvement is increasing
m. Friday we had a Microsoft Latin American beautification around the campus
n. Jeep/Chrysler will be holding a test-drive for cash program
o. There is a need for improvement in the area of PTSA/Parental involvement
p. School spirit continues to grow and continues to grow
