Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 3:29 pm by the Chair. Mr. Montalvan welcomed everyone to the meeting for those in person, and online. Apologizes for the technical difficulties were expressed, and the meeting moved forward with the outlined agenda.
Approval of the minutes

Dr. Davis motioned to accept the minutes as written; seconded by Mrs. Longley-Proctor. Minutes approved.

EESAC Budget - Remaining Balance $9,193.75
Title I – Ms. Balsano
Encourage students to sign up for Free and Reduced lunch
Free/Reduced lunch approval provides SAT/ACT waivers
Students can sign up at nutrition.dadeschools.net
Funding Request- Mental Health Wellness - Ms. D. Innerarity
Requested $500 for Mental Health Wellness Session for students @NMB
90 Minute Session provided by Licensed Mental Health Counselors
V. Martin moved to accept the proposal for the Mental Health Wellness Session for $500, Mr. Alcin seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously passed.
Congratulations to Ms. Innerarity for $500 for the Mental Health Wellness Session.
ESSAC balance after approval of this request is $8,693.75

Reports and Updates
Students
Sebastian: Stated that he enjoyed the Virtual Pep Rally. He also asked about how to get funding for the band.
Andre: Liked the activities that encourage student involvement.
De’Vine: Encourages students to be involved in activities.
PTSA and Parents –
Mr. Bernabe gave accolades to administrators, counselors and the office staff for being cordial to parents when they come/call the school.
Mr. Ridore thanked Mr. Bernabe for the kind remarks.
Administration
Mr. Milliken:
Data Com w/Superintendent went well. Pleased with the progress at NMB, with the exception of engagement of our MSO students. Will be concentrated on ways to get students engaged.
Shout Out to Activities for the Black History Month door contest/Luncheon and other activities were a huge success. Social Distancing protocols were in place, which helped for the enjoyment of the months activities.
Possibility of outdoor fans for Spring Sports
Community- Dr. Michelle Currie Williams (MDC)
Talent Search Grant for 500 students (Free/Reduced Lunch, parents no college, etc)
Summer enrollment is open
1Million Black Scholars Funding-North Campus (Posted on Student Services page) Excellent opportunity for students
Still enrolling 9th and 10 grade students for Upward Bound.
Faculty and Staff-
Mr. Alcin stated that we have the “Best Students” in Miami-Dade County @ NMB
Mr. Alcin also thought that the VIrutal Pep Rally was good, and the students found it to be an interesting outlet.
Longley-Proctor: Masteryprep program for Seniors to help in passing the SAT
Black History Lunch
Mr. Montalvan wanted to encourage teacher to take advantage of the certification exams offered by the District. Great Opportunity!
UTD – Dr. Davis
SSRI passed unanimously by faculty for a 90 Minute Block Schedule
Zoom conference March 13th on retirement
Make sure we are at 51% above to have a say in teacher bargaining.
Mr. Montalvan questioned why the EESAC budget did not match what was recorded in the previous minutes ($12,679.44). Mr. Milliken mentioned he would reach out to Mrs. Powell to find out why it doesn’t match.
