Review and Approval:

Revisions were noted by Ms. Stovall

Minutes from September 12, 2023: Moved for approval by Ms. Hepburn-Murray and seconded by Ashlene Capers.

EESAC Roster: Motion to accept made by Ms. Martin and seconded by Ms. Hepburn-Murray.

Review of Bylaws:

Members reviewed the bylaws, with potential revisions discussed.

Title One/SIP:

SIP was submitted to the state last week. An instructional review with ETO was conducted. Emphasizing support for ESOL students, after-school tutoring, and enriched vocabulary training​​.

Budget Review:

The current balance stands at $10,869.13. Discussions regarding specific proposals were deferred to the subsequent meeting.

Reports & Updates:

Students:

AHS: Held a BBQ event last week which was successful, with plans to review applications soon​1.

Class of 2025: Recently fundraised by selling sodas and plans to sell at the Pink Walk event, with efforts towards improving fundraising methods​.

Women of Tomorrow: Ongoing application process with the first meeting scheduled for October 19​.

GEMS: Engaged in activities for breast cancer awareness month, including selling ribbons and decorating school premises. They also plan to sell snow cones for fundraising​.

College Impact Club: Plans for on-the-job paid work experiences, offering scholarships for seniors aiming for FIU or other colleges, and ongoing educational activities​.

Project FIT: Preparations for various holiday celebrations and an update on the second-hand boutique​.

JROTC: Raiders team prepping for state nationals and other competitions​.

Faculty & Staff:

Announcement of NMB's partnership with Feeding South Florida. The pantry is set to launch on November 14, with staff training on October 27​​.

Community:

Talent Search: The program has a new director, Monica Claremont, replacing Monica Darden.

Events: "Holiday at North" at MDC North is scheduled for December 9 (Saturday).

Financial Aid: Notable changes are in the pipeline, with updates expected by December 1.

Scholarships: Applications are now open for the Presidential Scholars Honors College and Rising Scholars. Emphasis is on early application.

Upward Bound:

Large graduating class expected for 2024, prompting earlier recruitment for the new cohort.

Current application process: Ms. Jean is handling applications. While the cap has been reached, qualifying students are recommended to Talent Search. Unlike Talent Search, Upward Bound offers stipends to students.

Application Info: Students can visit rooms 312 and 313 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm, to get application forms and detailed information.

Administration:

Instructional Review with ETO was completed.

Homecoming event is nearing.

Active testing phase with PSAT, ACT, PSAT.

Construction updates including closures, teacher relocations, library abatement, and new generator preparations.

Successful lockdown drill conducted during lunch.

Upcoming phone system overhaul expected by spring break​.

UTD- Ms. Stovall: No recent updates were shared.
