EESAC Minutes
February 17, 2011
Attendees: Mr. Perez, Mrs. Rodriguez, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Hernandez, Mrs. Marin-Restrepo, Mrs. Bustamente, Mrs. Kassner, Mrs. Georgia, Dr. Pablo Chao, UM, Ms. Villa, Ms. Tamara Calvo, Ms. T. Luque.
• EESAC Meeting began at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the conclusion of the PTA Meeting previously scheduled.
• Ms. Rodriguez requested that all members read and review the minutes from the previous meeting on December 2, 2010.
o Motion to approve minutes by Mrs. Johnson
o Motion second by Mr. Hernandez
o All were in favor of minutes from previous meeting.
• Mr. Perez began to discuss the following topics with the members:
o Mr. Perez reviewed the process of the mid-year review of the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
o Mr. Perez explained to the members that ISPA is a new school and is not required to submit a mid-year review of the SIP, but ISPA is still working towards the goals and objectives stated in the SIP.
• Mr. Perez discussed and provided a construction update of the new campus.
o Construction is progressing and the target date for completion is mid-July 2011.
• Naming of school has been finalized: International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables as approved by the Miami-Dade County School Board.
• Mr. Perez stated that ISPA is still recruiting for 10th grade and will continue to recruit new students through July 2011 in order to fill all of the seats available for the 2011-2012 school year.
• Mr. Perez provided an update on School Uniforms and the new school emblem on the uniforms.
o Uniform update: khaki pants, polo shirt: red, green, or blue. We added the jackets with “hoodies” and sweaters with the school colors too.
o Physical Education uniforms will be navy blue shorts and white shirts with school logo.
• The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) was established and the first meeting was conducted on February 17, 2011.
o The PTSA was chartered and new members were able to join the new ISPA PTSA.
o Ms. Luque was voted the first PTSA President for ISPA.
• EESAC Meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
