II. Call to Order
*Mr. Perez called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. on January 23, 2014, at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA).
III. Roll Call

IV. Approval of Minutes from November 14, 2013
*Ms. Bez made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Lugo seconded the motion.
* Minutes from November 14, 2013, were approved by all members.
V. School Improvement Plan 2013-2014 Review and Updates
*Copies are available from Mr. Perez upon request.
*Currently, it’s pending approval from the MDCPS School Board on November 19, 2013, or December 5, 2013.
*The MDCPS District has approved the SIP.
IV. Recruitment Update for 2014-2015
*Mr. Perez expressed that there have been many inquiries regarding the enrollment process this year.
*To date, five hundred students have applied. This year 600 applications are expected.
*Foreign students currently in France and Italy have made inquiries regarding ISPA’s application process.
*Next year, approximately 125 new students will be accepted. Approximately 50
students will be accepted into the Spanish Program, 25 students in the French Program,
and 25 in the Italian Program.
*Language Proficiency testing has begun and will take place this month. This Saturday,
ninety students are scheduled for testing.
V. EESAC Budget
*Mr. Perez mentioned that currently EESAC has a budget of $1258.04 based on our student population.
*Ms. Lugo shared her findings regarding the quotes she received from the “Turn It In.Com” Service. It was determined by the committee that the quote was over EESAC’s current budget, and we will revisit the need for this product next year.
*Ms. Lugo suggested that the monies could be used to purchase the end of the year awards for students. The committee was in agreement, and Mr. Perez said that he will bring a quote to the next meeting.
*Ms. Iglesias suggested that part of the money be spent on a printer delegated for student use. The printer would be placed in the library, and the librarian could monitor fair usage of the machine. The committee agreed, and Mr. Perez will provide us with a quote for a printer and two ink cartridges.
VI. Florida School Recognition Program Discussion and Vote
* EESAC Committee discussed and voted on two proposals for the distribution of the 2012-2013 School Recognition Funds.
*Plan A distributes the funds among ISPA’s staff.
*Plan B distributes the funds among ISPA’s staff and Classroom Supplies and Materials.
*All EESAC members approved both plans which will be presented to ISPA’s faculty, and they will vote next Tuesday, January 28, 2014 for their desired plan.
VII. PTSA Update
*The PTSA will continue holding informational meeting in ISPA’s Café through January.
*The PTSA will be holding a Car Wash, January 25th, 2014.
* The PTSA will also host a fundraising activity, a silent auction, on February 28, at the Italian General Consul’s home. Tickets will be sold for the event at $30.00 per person, and proceeds will benefit ISPA’s PTSA organization.
VIII. New Business
*Mr. Perez met with the district and shared his concerns for the safety of our students and possible increase of the signage in the area which will alert drivers to the school zone area. The district will be sending personnel to study the traffic patterns in late January/early February to address the issue.
*Mr. Mazloum is currently working on the Student Identification Cards for ISPA students this year.
*On February 5, 2014, ISPA will hold the Ring Ceremony for Juniors, and on February 28th, 2014, the Seniors will be going on a bowling fieldtrip.
*In March, Ms. Rodriguez will be visiting Italy on a fieldtrip with a group of our students. In the future, students will be visiting France and Spain as well.
*In May, a group of students will be attending, Close Up in Washington D.C.
