Principal’s Update - Mrs. Prado-Lima

May 18th - Testing season ended with the Civics EOC
Raw scores will be released on June 7th. Raw data will then be cleaned up to only include students who were included in both FTE periods in October and February.
We have a Dance program here at Country Club Middle School not just a dance team.
Last night, we had the End of the Year Dance show and it was sold out.
On Monday, May 21st, we had several things take place:
We started getting ready for summer school by identifying the eligible 8th graders who are only failing one class. Summer school will be held at Lake Stevens Middle School this year.
Project citizen
The Project Citizen team participated in the state competition. Team members are apart of the law studies program. They presented their “Beyond the Shelves” project encouraging Public Library usage. The team won third place for their portfolio in the state competition.
STEAM Designation Visit
Mrs. Lima submitted the forms to become a STEAM designated school earlier this year. Ms. Martin, the Forensics Magnet program teacher is spearheading this project. She was assisted by Mrs. Spicer, Mr. Jonassaint, Mrs. Brunson, Mrs. Curry-Coffee, and Mrs. L. Estrada. There were 7 challenges and we won 1st place in the coastal infographic competition. The STEAM committee met and they will decide our designation. Whether we will be a gold, silver, or bronze STEAM designation school. We are going for the gold but because this is our first year, we may get silver or bronze.

Next year, we would like to implement a clear book bags policy. Our first step is to vote through the EESAC on whether we should take it to the parents for a vote. EESAC discussed how the clear book bag policy will assist as a deterrent from students bringing inappropriate items to school.
Ms. Gary made a motion to bring clear book bags to a vote with parents. Ms. Certain seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously passed.

EESAC Committee Business - Ms. Karan-Miyar

Fathers in Action was held at Country Club Middle School on May 7th. This was a district event. The speakers were excellent but the turnout was not great.

Review of the minutes from February 27, March 8, and April 24, 2018. Gary made a motion to approve all the above minutes with corrections to April 24. Prado-Lima seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
Composition waiver for next school year
Must include more students with all three grade levels represented.
Non-faculty members of the committee must exceed the amount of faculty members.
Parent had concerns about the lack of active PTSA. An active PTSA would bring in the necessary parents to be involved in the EESAC committee.
Gary made a motion to approve composition waiver as proposed and to add the AP as the principal's alternate, to increase the number of student reps from 1 to 4 and to decrease the number of parent reps from 7 to 4. Mrs. Curry-Coffee seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The waiver will be uploaded to the system and changes will be effective after EESAC DISTRICT board approves for the upcoming school year.
Amend bylaws to reflect composition waiver
Mrs. Certain motioned to amend the bylaws to reflect the composition waiver when approved. Mrs. Gary seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
School Improvement Plan
At this point in the school year, we are looking at current data and making improvements to instruction.
We are in compliance with the School Improvement Plan.
• The principal discussed the Continuous Improvement Process AND 2017-2018 School Improvement Survey process used to solicit faculty input for the completion of the 2017-2018 Continuous Improvement Reflection Worksheet and discuss how consensus was achieved. A faculty meeting was held and the plan was discussed and all teachers were given laptops to complete the survey at the meeting. Parents are requesting more involvement in the school activities and want to revive the PTSA.
Ms. Miyar Reviewed the 2017-2018 End-of-Year (EOY) EESAC Assurances Checklist and our school was in compliance with School Board Bylaws & Policy (SBBP) and State Statutes for the 2017-2018 school year. This will be uploaded into the OSI system.
Student updates
Prom and the End of the Year trip to Islands of Adventure for the eighth grade was excellent.
Last day to bring book bags is May 31st. June 5-7, student dismissal will be at 2:40 p.m.
The 8th grade promotion ceremony will be held on June 8th at 10 a.m.
On June 6, the awards ceremony for 6th and 7th graders will be held. Notices will be sent out to the parents of all the students receiving an award.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:53 a.m.
