Sterling Criteria
School Performance Excellence Plan Mid-Year Review

A Welcome was extended to all by Sandra Ames. The minutes from the meeting of November 13, 2002 were read. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes as read.

OLD BUSINESS - The Sterling booklets arrived at the school. Mrs. King informed everyone present about the Sterling Criteria booklets (10 copies). Copies of our self-assessment were distributed to members. There are some differences between the Navigator and the 2002-2003 Performance Excellence Self-Assessment completed by staff members.

Mrs. King wants someone from the district to tell us if we can use our self-assessment rather than use the Navigator.

Ms. Ames will check out the Sterling books from Mrs. King to peruse.

The Sterling Criteria measures our educational excellence.

Ms. Ames discussed workshops for EESAC committee members which will be held in the evenings at various schools. Anyone can attend.

NEW BUSINESS - The mid-year progress on SPEP was discussed.

Ms. Ames discussed the objectives. Next Thursday the mid-year SPEP Review Conference will be held in the Office of Alternative Education.

A SPEP Strategies Implementation Tracking Form was used to complete a mid-year formative evaluation of all strategies for each objective.

Ms. Gwendolyn McKay led the discussion of Objective #1 - Reading and Objective #2 - Writing. Ms. Natalie Kane led the discussion of Objective #3 - Mathematics, and Ms. Sandra Ames led the discussion of Objective #4 - Nursery.

Ms. King said a mid-year review checklist will be completed and attached.

The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2003.

Ms. Pottinger reminded all present of the upcoming Health Fair to be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, February 23, 2003.

Meeting was adjourned at 5:09 p.m.
