OLD BUSINESS: Make decision on how to divide the EESAC money.
Ms. Ames said she was willing to waive receipt of any money this year for Tots’ Olympics. Ms. Clarington said she needs approximately $900 to purchase end of the year trophies for students. The remainder of the money could be split between purchasing FCAT Incentives for students and Reward Field Trips for those students who have earned enough points.
Ms. Loring said she would like to purchase a popcorn machine if money is available.
A consensus was given that $900 will be used for Awards and Trophies, $245 will be used for FCAT Incentives, and $245 will be used for Reward Field Trips.
Mrs. King said the amount of money we have in the EESAC account can change, depending upon the FTE count ($10.00 per student).
NEW BUSINESS: Mandatory School Uniforms – Mrs. King proposed that the uniform dress code be modified effective the first day back from Christmas break (January 7, 2008). The modification would consist of adding a navy jacket or navy sweater which opens in the front to the authorized uniform list. The second proposal was to eliminate the wearing of jeans.
Discussion was held on this proposal: Ms. Ligeikis agreed with Mrs. King. Ms. Clarington said we should eliminate Capri pants and require that all pants be ankle length.
After further discussion, a consensus was reached by those members present that jackets (navy only, no denim) and sweaters (navy only) both of which opened in the front would be added to the authorized uniform dress code. In addition, all pants must be ankle length, not Capri length. Only plain jeans may be worn – with no decorations of any kind. The new uniform dress code is effective January 7, 2008.
The next meeting will be announced at a later date.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:11 p.m.
