The meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m.
Minutes from the December 12, 2007 meeting were approved with no changes.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: Approval of Mid-Year School Improvement Plan Review.
Mrs. King reminded those in attendance that this mid-year review is data-driven. We will have our mid-year district review conference on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. After the conference Mrs. King will have a meeting to discuss items discussed there.
Members will give an overview of their portion of the Mid-Year Review.
Ms. Loring said it was hard to find strengths in Reading and Mathematics. In Science there were improvements in all benchmarks except for Force and Motion.
Parental Involvement – Ms. Loring said there was improved student attendance.
Technology – Ms. Clarington said there was a 4% gain in students’ average independent reading rate. She also said each teacher will be receiving a laptop computer.
Health and Physical Fitness – Ms. Hadley stated there was a 17% increase in student enrollment in the Wellness Center.
There was a 1.05% increase in student attendance during the 1st grading period as compared to the same time during the 2006-2007 school year.
Electives – Ms. Loring asked members to look at the mid-year review packet.
Return on Investment – Ms. Ames said we have not located tutors for mathematics at this time.
Graduation – Mrs. King said 67% of the 12th grade students passed the Math FCAT.
A consensus of approval was given for the mid-year review packet as it is now.
The date for the next EESAC meeting will be announced at a later date.
Mrs. King said there will have to be another vote on Secondary School Reform. It may be on the agenda for our next meeting.
