Topics Covered

The EESAC meeting opened up at 8:30 am. The minutes were not provided. The SIP Review was read and Ms. Harris encouraged the committee not to be discouraged by the percentages. Even though some percentages appeared low, there is a high belief that our students were ready for the FCAT.

The SIP Review continued with looking at the strengths and opportunities for improvement in Language Arts and Mathematics.

In reviewing Mathematics, the percentages were analyzed. Amongst the strategies that worked were the parent nights and the implementation of V-Math. Calendar was addressed 5 times due to district results.

There will be no writing test this year. The focus was on reading and the results are from the region. Next years focus will be on writing within reading and language arts.

Across the district, science scores were low. Next year, we will be tested on science.

Professional Development/Criss training occured (especially for new teachers).

The was a great job done with parental improvement. PTSA only has 54 members but have to improve #'s for next year. Mr. Bueno is concerned with the lack of teacher support. There will be a greater faculty push next year.

Discipline/Safety-Peer mediation needs to be improved with a greater focus on the program.

Technology- We are very fortunate computers have arrived, SMARTBOARDs are in every class, The CCMS webpage has been enhanced and we are using email for everything.

PE-Students have run the 1 mile test. Coach Covone says that she will keep trying to keep the students active.

Electives-115 students for guitar, 142 for band, and so far there have been limited performances. The students have performed for parent nights and the award ceremony.

ROI- no % from the state.

Ms. Harris and Mr. Bueno are still encouraged by what the faculty and students have done this year.

Mr. Bueno says "when compared to neighboring schools,we were up to par." He feels comfortable.

This was to be the last meeting of the year but Mr. Bueno is requesting one more meeting.

There is a Just Read Florida conference coming up that the reading coach and teachers will attend. The cost is $100 per person for registration and travel costs, $39 for meals, and tolls. Mr. Bueno is requestiind $500 for Ms. house, Ms. Knowles, and him. This motion to approve was made by Ms. Cartwright and seconded by Ms. Covone.

The next meeting will be about finances. The meeting was adjourned at 8:56 am.
