TOPICS COVERED - Summary of Presentation of School Performance Excellence Plan Mid-Year Review to Committee.
Ms. Ames said that overall the committee was pleased with our school’s presentation of the SPEP Mid-Year Review.
Mrs. Goins explained the committee’s questions on attendance and it was interested in sharing our strategies with other schools - especially pertaining to the Read-A-thon.
Mrs. King said the committee was pleased with our progress thus far on the SPEP.
OLD BUSINESS - Mrs. King discussed the Sterling Criteria book. She said the K-12 supplement is easier to use because it includes terminology used by educators. She suggests we use both the Criteria book and the K-12 Supplement Notes. She asked that each member sign out a set of the books and read them before the next scheduled meeting in April.
We should look at each category in the books.
Mrs. King spoke to Carlos Viera from the District. He said it is not necessary to use the Navigator. We can use our own self-assessment. He will send people to work with us to get us started. He will come here on April 11, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. to meet with the leadership (department heads and administration).
Department heads need to have read the books by April 11, 2003.
Mrs. King suggested that they start with the K-12 Supplemental Notes first then read the Criteria book.
The department heads should bring their self-assessments to the April 11th meeting with Mr. Viera.
NEW BUSINESS - None
The next meeting will be April 16, 2003 at 4:05 p.m.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
