Mrs. Lebena discussed the SIP Mid-Year Review. The review was submitted yesterday (01-21-09) and we are aware that we will have to make some revisions. Once it is returned for revisions, we will meet to go over them.
In Mathematics, strategies 1 and 5 have been completed. The percentages are exactly the same for 6th graders and there was some progress shown for 7th and 8th graders. All level 1's are in intensive math classes and there is some co-teaching going on. The students are using more FCAT explorer and the 40 day countdown is being used in all classes.
In writing, strategies 2 and 7 have been completed. There has been some progress but it is not significant. The Expressfoli score was an average of 4.0. Social Studies is contributing to the writing and the 4.0 club will drill the students on what they need to in order to score well. There was also professional development for the teachers called Write traits.
In Science, strategies 2 and 3 have been completed. Crunch time curriculum is being implemented. All grade levels went down in Science.
ROI (return on investment) deos not apply to us. We will meet next Monday to revisit the S.I.P.
Mr. Bueno discussed the waivers for the 2009-2010 school year. Waivers included block scheduling. There were two schedules proposed. The first was the normal block, and the second was a regular 1-6 period day. He also discussed the following positions: Middle School Athletic Director, Middle School Activities Director, Data manager, Uniform Enforcement, and Administrative Assistant. The need for additional supervision was discussed, and a recommendation was proposed by the committee to utilize interested teachers to support the administrative team during their individual planning periods. In addition, it was recommended that these teachers be compensated with an additional supplement. The waivers will be presented and voted upon by the faculty on the February 3 meeting. A motion to approve these recommendations was made by Ms. Covone and second by Ms. House.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was presented by Ms. Hildenbrand and second by Ms. Conroy at 9:00 am.
