Topics Covered

Approval of minutes: Mrs. Robledo called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m. The minutes from February 3, 2011 were reviewed and approved.

SIP Review: The EESAC is the sole body responsible for the approval and implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP). Mrs. Gonzalez explained that the reason for this meeting is to continue a waiver regarding G.W. Carver Middle School's block schedule for the 2011-2012 school year. She explained that the block schedule is more productive for learning than a schedule of seven classes meeting daily for 45 minutes each. Because of time constraints, a traditional schedule is not practical; students would have to attend a longer school day to fit in all periods. The paperwork for approval of the block schedule is due today. Last week the faculty voted to approve the waiver so the school can continue with block scheduling next year. After a motion, the committee approved the waiver.

Adjournment: Mrs. Robledo adjourned the meeting at 8:48 a.m.
