Others Present:
1. Approval of Minutes: The EESAC minutes were approved.
2. Review of the 2011-2012 School Improvement Plan:
The document was submitted to the Region and has been updated with their suggestions. Once the document is finalized, a copy will be shared at the EESAC meeting to ensure that the strategies listed in the document are being implemented.
3. School Operations: no items.
4. Curriculum Issues:
Question: Who is being sent to Ms. Ortiz for Reading? Ms. Ortiz services 2 – 4 grades and other grades as needed for class size. Classes with the highest number of ESOL students that are levels 1 and 2 are also being serviced. Teachers have ESOL endorsement and should be using ESOL strategies throughout the day.
Math: Grade Level Chairs must submit requests for copies for the Math Assessments on behalf of their grade level.
5. Budget:
Grab & Go DI Kits: At the next budget conference we will have more information regarding this order. It was previously placed, but was not finalized due to a discrepancy in the budget. If the EESAC funds do in fact roll over, only K-2 will receive these kits. The District’s Attendance Snapshot is set for the end of this week.
Due to budgetary constraints, there is no money available for new printers, drums, or toners.
Question: Can we provide the Go Math! Chapter Assessments online.
Answer: Not at this time. The children are not ready for this type of assessment. Copies will be provided.
6. Title I:
Ms. Peña is being paid out of Title I. We are waiting for F.A.I.R. results to determine interventions. We would like to be able to utilize her in the library, but that would depend on the supply account’s balance. More information will be available and forthcoming after Ms. Klein’s next budget conference.
7. New Business:
The members of the 2011-2012 EESAC were elected as follows:
Ms. Amparo Quintero, EESAC Chairperson
Ms. Chantea Salley, Intermediate Representative
Ms. Chaneqa Wooten, Primary Representative
Ms. Joanne Welch, UTD Representative
Ms. Tameika Scott-Smith, UTD Representative (Alternate)
Ms. Marina Prieto, Recording Secretary
