Topics Covered

The meeting was called to order at 8:25 a.m. by Sandra Ames in the Media Center of Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center.

The minutes from the meeting held on November 17, 2011 was approved with no changes.

Ms. Ames said she is looking at the end of the school year to see what activities the students can do now that there are no finals. At the Activities Directors’ meeting she said there was a recommendation that the last three days of the school year will be ½ days for students.

Ms. Cooper mentioned that there is a new Art Center located in Cutler Bay which might be a good place to take students on a field trip.

Ms. Ames said she will write up the field trip paperwork for the FCAT field trips. She said Ms. Linares of Communities in Schools will provide two buses to take students to a park.

Mrs. Webb informed those present that the Mid-Year School Improvement Plan must be uploaded on February 3, 2012. She also said she has the DA Checklist and some items have partial completion. She also said she has completed all hiring of instructional staff and everyone is certified in the field in which they are teaching.

Currently most other items on the checklist are in compliance. In addition, Mrs. Webb said the Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP) must be updated for the mid-year.

Ms. Goins said she will send the field trip dates to Ms. Ames along with the anticipated numbers of students who will be attending.

It was mentioned that more students appear to be taking the ACT now.

Ms. Ames told those present that we will be receiving 30 gifts for our students from the National Association of Women MBA (Masters of Business Administration).

The next meeting will be held February 2, 2012 at 8:15 a.m. in the Media Center.
