Ms. Carrie Montano:
o School is successfully maintaining its ‘college prep’ strategy; including offering a large number and variety of AP courses.
o Demand for AP courses is increasing.
o Requiring that incoming students have Physical Science before entering TERRA.

 

Mrs. Mayka Garciga

 

o Asked for a vote to properly place the student incentive funds.
o Ms. Montano then asked to have the conversation and vote over the funds be moved to the October meeting.
o Mrs. Garciga asked for a vote to instate the three new parent members to EESAC.
o Sigal Sax motioned

• Brenda Abreu Molnar asked if the percentage results for AP exams could be made available for all to see.
o Ms. Montano informed her that she could make percentages available to the school population but could not reveal individual student results.

 

• Mrs. Barbara asked about the plans for preparing students for the PERT exam and what year takes it.
o Mr. Sirven supplied a few general PERT details.
o Mrs. Ebbert further stressed the importance of taking the PERT and testing in general. She informed those present that the qualifying score for the MAC1105 is a 113.

 

• Mrs. Barbara emphasized the importance of the PERT exam and asked if it were possible to better inform parents and students about preparation for the PERT.

 

• Mrs. Barbara also recommended that the current PERT study guide be sent to all parents and students.
o Ms. Montano stressed the importance of informing parents of all necessary and optional student tests.
o Ms. Montano suggested placing PERT information on the school’s website.

 

• Ms. Mejia asked if there is an SAT score that avoids requiring the PERT.
o No one present could confirm, but it would be explored.

 

• Sigal Sax asked what happens to juniors who do not pass the EOC.
o Mr. Sirven informed her that they do not lose the credit for the course; tenth graders, however, do lose credit.

 

• Mrs. Barbara emphasized the importance of making proper accommodations for the PERT exam available to students who require them.

 

• Mrs. Garciga reminded everyone present the next meeting is scheduled for October 2nd, 2012.

 

• Mrs. Garciga asked for a motion to adjourn
