Topics Covered

The meeting was called to order at 8:15 a.m. by Sandra Ames in the Media Center of Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center.

The minutes from the meeting held on May 8, 2012 was approved with no changes.

Ms. Ames held a discussion of the School Improvement Plan. Ms. Butcher said the students’ weakest area in writing was punctuation and grammar. Ms. Goins said that the middle school students were deficient in measurement and number sense. She also said that participation in the Science Fair would be beneficial to the students.

Ms. Hadley said students in our two academies (Certified Nursing Assistant and Early Childhood Development) experienced problems with professional vocabulary and critical thinking.

It was agreed that Common Planning has been beneficial to the teachers.

Ms. Ames informed those present that we need election of a teacher for the EESAC at the next staff meeting since one of our members will be retiring in November. It was the consensus that we should postpone setting the dates and time of future meetings to a later date.

The next meeting will be held on September 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:01 a.m.
