Old Business: SIP Update
Ms. Goins opened the meeting this month announcing mid-year reporting. We have no data to discuss yet but we may have raw data by the next meeting. The Reading mid-year assessment is scheduled for January 22 – February 5, 2013, and the History mid-year assessment is scheduled for the week of January 14 – 17, 2013. Afterwards, we will analyze data results to see if any changes to instruction will be required.
Ms. Gilbert asked if we need to advertise the test dates anywhere. Ms. Goins responded that the testing dates are posted on the District calendar and on our school’s website.
Ms. Goins also informed us that she will now be updating our school website. She asked if anyone has any items they desire to post on the website to let her know. The site is currently under construction.
Ms. Ames asked for ideas to re-visit the use of the $682.00 EESAC budget. Ms. Starling suggested that we have a subcommittee to decide on what to purchase.
Mrs. Grice suggested we move forward in the purchase of certificates, ribbons and trophies for attendance and academics to celebrate the students every nine weeks. She shared that this will allow all students to participate. Ms. Gilbert said she would provide an estimate for the trophies and certificates.
Ms. Ames suggested we use $100.00 - $150.00 to purchase mints and snacks for students during FCAT assessment.
It was the consensus of the members to use the majority of the EESAC budget for celebration of student achievement.
In an effort to involve parents/guardians and the community, Mrs. Grice said she would like to give more exposure to our students and recognize or successes by submitting such achievements/ accomplishments to in the Region monthly newsletter.
Additionally, Mrs. Grice has provided a list of agencies to Student Services to assist us with our students’ social and behavior concerns.
Mrs. Grice also noted that we have several mentoring programs our girls are participating in this year. We need to begin seeing how effective these programs are if they are to continue at COPE.
