The meeting was called to order at 8:04 a.m. by Sandra Ames in the Media Center of Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center.
Present were: Sandra Ames, Sarah Russell, Sheree Cooper-Jackson, Susan Hansen, Erika Hernandez, Sylvia Hadley, Alfreida Joseph-Goins, Constance Gilbert, Lisa Aviles, Annette Burks-Grice and Patricia Florit-Valenzano.
Mrs. Ames, EESAC Chair, welcomed the teachers, and EESAC members.
The minutes from the May 14, 2013 EESAC meeting were reviewed. After review, it was moved and seconded for approval with changes.
Old Business:
The SIP Team attended district training on May 30th. Mrs. Ames and Mrs. Goins, members of the team, shared the following:
• SIP format is more narrative in nature
• SIP will reflect common core state standards
• Parental involvement, including specific comments from parents
• Updates/modifications will be made to the SIP as necessary throughout the school year.
• Schools will be held accountable for the strategies placed in the SIP.
• Annually Measured Objectives (AMOs) will be used to reduce the number of non-proficient students.
New Business:
Members in attendance engaged in open informal dialogue on:
• Developing/implementing strategies to improve stakeholders’ motivation as related to student achievement.
• Focus on strategies to increase student achievement.
• Focus on strategies to increase student attendance.
Announcements:
Mrs. Ames brought to the EESAC’s attention that they need to think about who will be the EESAC chairperson for the 2013-2014 school year since she will be retiring at the end of November.
The next EESAC meeting date will be announced at a later date.
