II. Call to Order
*Mr. Perez called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. on October 1, 2013, at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA).
III. Roll Call
*Mr. Perez, Mrs. Iglesias, Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Bez, Ms. Calvo, Ms. Lugo, Mr. Hernandez, Ms. Martinez, Nicholas Ramirez, Mr. Weiner, Ms. Del Rio, Ms. Sosa, and Ms. Medina
IV. Approval of Minutes from April 25, 2013
*Ms. Lugo made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Iglesias seconded the motion.
* Minutes from April 25, 2013 were approved by all members.
V. School Improvement Plan 2013-2014 Review and Updates
*Copies are available from Mr. Perez upon request.
*The School Improvement Plan is a working document. Its purpose is to meet the needs of the school.
*Currently, it’s pending approval from the MDPS Board in November 2013.
*Mr. Perez reviewed the SIP including but limited to the sections pertaining to highly qualified teachers, RTI, Leadership teams, and the test data.
*Last year’s test data revealed that ISPA is ranked among the top scoring schools in comparison to the entire district.
*Mr. Perez also reviewed the learning gain targets for 2014, in all subject areas.
*Ms. Iglesias made a motion to approve the 2013-2014 SIP, and Ms. Bez seconded the motion. Everyone in the committee approved the SIP.
IV. EESAC By-Laws Review and Approval
*No changes were made to the EESAC By-Laws.
V. PTSA Update
*The PTSA will be holding an informational meeting in ISPA’s Café this October.
VI. New Business
*The EESAC voted for a new EESAC Chairperson. Mr. Weiner and Ms. Rodriguez self-nominated themselves. After the secret ballots were tallied, Ms. Rodriguez was voted Chairperson of EESAC for the 2013-2014 school year.
