OLD BUSINESS
Sterling application packets were delivered downtown on Monday, November 10, 2003. All staff members will be given a copy of the packet for their information and will be encouraged to become thoroughly familiar with it. Successful Sterling process will require 100% involvement of staff.
An important part of the Sterling process is feedback from all who have a connection with our facility. Surveys have been prepared for completion by visitors to office (see attached draft). Each nine weeks students will complete a “Student Evaluation of Classroom Instruction” (sample attached). Suggestion boxes will be placed in the office for visitors, in the lounge for employees and in the cafeteria for students.
A suggested survey for the nursery area may include questions concerning the
following: customer satisfaction, health/safety, service satisfaction, how safe do you feel in the nursery, age appropriate activities, staff enhancement activities, food service program, communication with caregiver, cleanliness of nursery.
Mrs. Pottinger shared a copy of a survey the clinic has been using. It was used to draft the office survey.
With the upcoming visit of the Sterling team scheduled as early as mid-January, effort must be concentrated on educating employees on vision, mission, profile, organizational chart, purpose, culture and other key aspects of the Sterling process.
Several ideas were voiced on how to “infect” the staff with Sterling fever:
a) Bulletin boards on each of the five SPEP goals
b) Daily “did you know?” questions on WCOPE
c) Daily quiz for all employees as team competition with prizes
for most replies, most correct answers, first question to be posted
Friday, November 14
d) Name tag-type item for each day of a week which will highlight
vision, mission, purpose, culture, core values. Intended for
both students and staff members. Ms. Pratt volunteered to provide.
e) Daily Sterling announcement on WCOPE (McKay)
f) Pep rally for students conducted by student council.
All staff members have been divided into nine teams. Team leaders are Mrs. Clarington, Ms. McKay, Mrs. Goins, Mrs. Bradman, Mrs. Ames, Ms. Pratt, Mrs. Pottinger, Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Collins. Sterling teams will have their first meeting on November 19. Teams are encouraged to choose a team name, colors and a motto.
