II. Call to Order
*Mr. Perez called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30 p.m., on
January 22, 2015 at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA). The meeting was held in the Media Center.
III. Roll Call
*Mr. Perez, Ms. Diaz, Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Martinez, Ms. Lugo, Ms. Feiler, Ms. Bez, Ms. Pope, Ms. Luna, Ms. Harrison, Ms. Medina, Miss Antunez, and Mr. Vargas
IV. Approval of Minutes from November 20, 2014
*Ms. Rodriguez made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Bez seconded the motion.
* Minutes from, November 20, 2014 were approved by all members.
V. School Improvement Plan 2014-2015 Review and Updates
*Copies are available from Mr. Perez upon request.
*The region has approved ISPA’s SIP plan.
*Currently, the core subject areas are conducting Mid-Year reviews.
VI. Recruitment Update
*The recruitment process for the 2015-2016 school year is well on its way.
*Currently, we have 325 students enrolled. Next year, the goal for enrollment is between 375-385 students.
*It is expected that there will be between 110 and 115 ninth students enrolling for the 2015-2016 school year.
*Approximately 600 applications are expected this year.
VII. Florida School Recognition Program Discussion and Vote
*Mr. Perez and Ms. Diaz presented a proposal for the disbursement of the School Recognition Funds.
*The committee reviewed the proposal and felt that it was adequate. Ms. Lugo made a motion to approve the proposal which will be presented to the staff at ISPA, and they will vote on it. Ms. Feiler seconded the motion, and all members unanimously agreed.
VIII. PTSA Update
*The PTSA distributed the invitations to the Gala they are organizing in order to fundraise for the school. The Gala is to take place on February 20, 2015. All proceeds will benefit the PTSA.
*There will also be a Silent Auction at the Gala, and it will be held at the Italian Consul’s home, Mr. Baratollo.
*A renowned artist will be present and will be donating a painting to the silent auction, and a designer chair from the 1950’s will also be available.
IX. New Business
*The Winter Formal, Holiday Shows, and Multi-Cultural events were all a success.
*ISPA will be hosting Blood Drive on January 23, 2015. The Spirit Squad will be there to encourage our students to donate.
*All ISPA students will experience a NIDA Drug Chat Live in recognition of National Drug Awareness Week.
*Ms. Martinez, CAP Counselor, will be hosting a College Financial Aid Work Shop for parents on January 26, 2015.
*There will be a MADD Walk on February 8th, and ISPA will have a team of students representing us.
*ISPA’s Second Annual World Cup will take place in March.
ISPA is a Mandatory Uniform School and will continue Uniforms for the 2015-2016 school year. All members were in agreement.
*During the month of May, another group of students will attend Close-Up. Ms. Rodriguez expects that more students will attend this year due to the success of last year’s trip.
*A group of students will be visiting Spain and Portugal with Ms. Rodriguez during the month of March.
*Class trips this year will include Epcot, Busch Gardens, Animal Kingdom or Sea World, and Grad Bash.
*Other activities that are planned for this year include Prom, and The Senior Breakfast. The Senior Breakfast is scheduled for January 30 at Town Restaurant. The Prom will be held at The JW Marriot in downtown Miami.
*Graduation is scheduled for May 27, 2015 at the 7:30 p.m.
X. Adjournment
*Ms. Bez moved to adjourn the meeting, and Ms. Feiler seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
