II. Call to Order
*Mr. Perez called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30 p.m., on March 5, 2015, at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA).
III. Roll Call
*Mr. Perez, Ms. Diaz, Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Martinez, Ms. Lugo, Ms. Feiler, Ms. Bez, Ms. Ferrante, Ms. Luna, Ms. Harrison, Ms. Medina, Miss Antunez, and Mr. Vargas
IV. Approval of Minutes from January 22, 2015
*Ms. Feiler made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Bez seconded the motion.
* Minutes from, January 22, 2015 were approved by all members.
V. School Improvement Plan 2014-2015 Update
*Copies are available from Mr. Perez upon request.
*There are no changes to the School Improvement Plan at this time.
*The region has approved ISPA’s SIP plan.
*Currently, FSA Assessments are taking place.
VI. Recruitment Update for 2015-2016
*The recruitment process for the 2015-2016 school year is well on its way.
*Currently, we have 325 students enrolled. Next year, the goal for enrollment is between 375-85 students.
*Letters of Acceptance, Waiting List, and Denial will be going out next week for next year’s ninth grade class.
*Some programs such as the Spanish program will have approximately 100 students on a Waiting List.
VII. School Improvement Plan Waiver
*This year, we will not request a waiver for any changes to our schedule. The staff voted and everyone is in agreement that the school will benefit from maintaining an eight period day.
VIII. PTSA Update
*The PTSA Gala is took place on February 20, 2015. All proceeds will benefit the PTSA. The PTSA fundraised approximately $12,000.
*The PTSA feels confident that they have enough in funds to help with next year’s activities.
*They are currently planning special activities for Teacher Appreciation Week which is from May 4-8.
IX. New Business
*The MADD Walk, National College Fair, Senior Breakfast, and the Ring Ceremony were all a success.
*Coffee with the Counselors will take place next week.
*ISPA’s Second Annual World Cup will take place in March.
*During the month of May, another group of students will attend Close-Up. Ms. Rodriguez expects that more students will attend this year due to the success of last year’s trip.
*A group of students will be visiting Spain and Portugal with Ms. Rodriguez during the month of March.
*Class trips this year will include Epcot, Busch Gardens, Animal Kingdom or Sea World, and Grad Bash. Grad Bash is on April 24.
*Other activities that are planned for this year include Prom. The Prom will be held at The JW Marriot in downtown Miami on May 9, from 7:30-12:00 p.m. The theme is The Oscars.
*Graduation is scheduled for May 27, 2015 at the 7:30 p.m.
*Ms. Martinez will be organizing a “Young Leaders Conference” from June 8th – 12th for next year’s Juniors and Seniors.
X. Adjournment
*Ms. Harrison moved to adjourn the meeting, and Miss Antunez seconded the motion, and all agreed. The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
