Topics Covered

EESAC Meeting Minutes
Call to order
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Review/Approve Prior Meeting Minutes
EESAC reviewed and approved prior meeting minutes unanimously.
School Improvement Plan (SIP)
The SIP is a live document. We are addressing the goals and strategies and this is an ongoing effort. There are plans to meet with the Educational Transformation Office (ETO) in order to reflect upon the current year’s strategies and goals as well as to gather input from various stakeholders.
RtI/Leadership Team Reviews/Updates
(M. Rodriguez) The cases are in process. There are no issues to report.
Open Forum/Discussions
School Operations
Audit: There are issues regarding the results of the recent custodial audit. Due to a decrease in manpower, we will address and resolve these items during the summer break.

Curriculum Issues
Students in grades 3-4 are using FLEX as part of the intervention strategy. Laptops have been provided to select interventionists to ensure that they are able to have their students access this software application during intervention time.
District Designated End Of Course (DDEOC): There will be end of course exams in Art, Music, P.E., Science, and Social Studies. The District is encouraging computer based testing for EOC exams in Science and Social Studies. The exam will last 45 minutes and is one session in length.
Budget
The funds for the budget have been adequately balanced. We have obtained quotes for Miami Dade County approved vendors for lawn maintenance. However, the quotes are too high. We are planning an order for the next school year’s supplies except for paper for the Main Office. We wish to use any remaining funds to refresh computers throughout the school.
Comment (Rosario): The PTA can pay for the lawn maintenance and procure non-approved MDCPS vendors. There are a few parents in the school community that provide professional lawn maintenance services.
Comment (Dr. Riaz): We will discuss this at the next PTA meeting in April.
Title I
No Title I items.

New Business
Dress Code: The Broadmoor Elementary School Uniform Policy can be changed through EESAC. EESAC members would like to keep the current policy of mandatory school uniforms Monday through Friday.
Teachers can assist in reinforcing the uniform policy by reminding students of the policy. Parents contact can be made as needed.
Idea: Spirit bracelets to help raise funds for PTA. Students can purchase these bracelets at the beginning of the school year so that they can wear jeans on select school days.
Comments/Concerns
Comment (Welch): The December meeting minutes were not recorded correctly.
Answer (Dr. Riaz): Upon review of the minutes, this issue is resolved. The minutes were recorded correctly.
Comment (Hume): Can teachers pick up the students after lunch as in the past?
Answer (Dr. Riaz): Yes.
Comment (Dr. Rivera): Will laptops and hot spot equipment be collected at the end of the school year?
Answer (Dr. Riaz): Yes.
Comment (M. Rodriguez): The parents signed contracts that delineate their responsibilities for returning the equipment. They also have information regarding replacement insurance in the documents they received.
Comment (Dr. Riaz): We are looking to refresh the computers for Kindergarten classrooms.
Comment (C. Moore): My Smart Board and computer does not look as vivid. I also see a message about the light bulb needing to be replaced.
Answer (Dr. Riaz): Please advise Suzy Barroso, School Secretary. Mr. Snipes may be able to assist in replacing the bulb and cleaning the filter.
