Old Business:

Mathematics/Science – Dr. Gayden informed members that students had taken the mid year examination in Biology.

Chemistry – currently, no student is proficient. A score of 69% is considered proficient. We have one student with a score of 63%.

Biology – 18% of our students (2) are proficient. The District has a 60% proficiency rate.

8th Grade Science – no student is proficient

Language Arts – was reported by Mrs. Goins in Ms. Esters-Bennett’s absence. The U.S. History EOC was given last week. No students were proficient.

Civics assessment was not given as no students are in this accountability group.

New Business:

Mrs. Goins explained the purpose and need for SIP Waivers, providing the specific need for each one of the current waivers. She also stated that the district requires that waivers are voted on annually.

Mrs. Goins shared that the faculty will vote on scheduling at the next staff meeting on February 24, 2015. She also shared that the next EESAC meeting must be held before March 6th. We will need to hold a special meeting. It was also confirmed by Mrs. Goins that we cannot do absentee voting.

Mrs. Quinn informed those present that we also offer three periods of virtual classes.

Mrs. Grice revisited the school’s uniform policy. Mrs. Harrington said she thinks the uniform works well here.

A discussion was held about the allocation of the EESAC funds for the remainder of the school year. Members were allowed to provide their input as to the allocation of funds. Several suggestions included an end-of-year trip, field day and other student incentives.

Mrs. Grice said we should look at purchasing trophies for the various academies for the Awards Day ceremony (approximately $174.00). Any remaining funds should go to the end of the year celebrations.

Mrs. Webb then asked if we were still having problems with students coming and completing tests. Mrs. Goins said we are working on the students’ testing stamina.

Ms. Gilbert announced that there is a Fast Track to Citizenship Program in the District. Seven schools in the county offer these classes and three sites offer online classes. Our Parent Resource Center has more information on this.

Our next meeting (special) will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. to vote on the waivers.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:47 a.m.
