Discussion of Mid-Year Progress report for Performance Excellence Plan and
results of meeting at Access Center. High School Recruitment update -
The deadline for applications is Jan. 30th. Discussion of additional
2.0 GPA requirement for incoming students. Mr. Gonzalez reported on
projected new dade partners in compliance with Performance Excellence
Plan, Objective # 6 - these include Signature Printing, the Credit Union
the Miami Heat and possibly Costco. Discussion on Marquee/Landscaping -
Estimated cost of the marquee is $25,000. Mr. Gonzalez, Asst. Principal
will look into the zoning . The PEC Council will seek support from
Vice Mayor Robert Alonso in getting approval for the marquee.
Mr. Martin contacted his landscaping company as to how they can assist
MLEC with landscaping concerns. They are willing to get involved but
need a cost estimate. Other concerns - explanation of tardy enforcement
and NC Appeals committee procedures. Other concerns: monitoring students
in the afternoon to keep them out of the truck area, and improving the
lighting on the perimeter of the school bordering NW 158th St. Mr. Garcia
to increse security surveillance in truck area and contact the Dept of
safety regarding the lighting issue on NW 158th St.
