II. Call to Order
a. Ms. Deanna Rodriguez, EESAC Chairperson called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30pm on January 12, 2017 at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA). The meeting was held in the Media Center.
III. Roll Call – certain members were absent from the meeting.
IV. Approval of Minutes from November 17, 2016
a. Ms. Rodriguez made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Bez seconded the motion.
b. Minutes from November 17, 2016 were approved unanimously.
V. School Improvement Plan 2016-2017
a. Mr. Perez discussed the SIP process and mid-year requirements.
b. The 2016 – 2017 SIP was reviewed and no updated are required at this time.
c. Mr. Perez discussed the Eight Period day and Block schedule currently in place at the school. This schedule is crucial for the school's academic program and required additional language courses that the students take.
d. Voting took place and all were in agreement with continuing the eight period/block schedules.
VI. Florida Recognition Plan and Discussion
a. For the third year in a row, ISPA has maintained an “A”, and will received $34,790.00 in recognition funds.
b. Funds will be distributed amongst all faculty/staff members at ISPA.
c. A 3 Tier distribution will be presented to faculty members for approval,
d. EESAC approved the distribution plan presented.
e. Faculty/staff will vote on distribution plan on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
VII. General Information
a. Magnet School application deadline is this Sunday, January 15, 2017. Postdated applications will be accepted until Tuesday, January 17, 2017 because of Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
b. To date, 627 applications have been submitted for acceptance to ISPA.
c. Proficiency exams will be administered over the next four Saturdays beginning on Saturday, January 21, 2017 and through Saturday, February 11, 2017.
VIII. PTSA Update
a. Upcoming Annual Parent Cocktail Event on February 10, 2017, to be held at the Spanish Consulate’s house.
b. There will be great food and a silent auction.
c. Parents are volunteering to sponsor teachers, so they attend the event.
d. This event is PTSA’s one big fundraiser event, which generates funds PTSA uses to help with many events for ISPA students.
IX. New Business
a. Ms. Martinez shared about the Young Leaders Conference, offered to Juniors the week after school ends.
b. During the week-long conference, students have the opportunity to attend various presentations that will help them prepare for the college application process.
c. This year, Ms. Martinez is working with the Marines to have them come and present to Juniors as well.
d. On Tuesday, January 17, 2017 personnel from the West Palm Beach school district will be visiting ISPA to observe our bilingual program.
X. Adjournment
a. Ms. Bez moved to adjourn the meeting and Ms. Feiler seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 3:10pm.
