Meeting was called to order at 8:09 a.m.

Review of the minutes - Prado motioned for the approval of the minutes. Brandeis Rawls-Aviles second the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

Principal update - Ms. Prado

As of January 15th, approximately 220 students applied to the CCMS magnet program. We have 171 eligible candidates.
Requirement - 2.0 GPA, A/B conduct, and no referrals
The PERT exam was given to possible dual enrollment students.
Dual enrollment classes will be offered on campus.
March 15th - Parents received acceptance letters for the magnet program.
CCMS rolled over 775 students. We need to keep them. Last year, we had 153 sixth graders attend the school. We want to double that number in the 2017-2018 school year.
CCMS was featured on the NBC News “Brag about Your School” segment.
We featured our biomedical, forensic, dance, and culinary programs.
Last Sunday, the culinary and science departments attended the food festival at Jungle Island.
This Saturday, the culinary department will be participating in the Fairchild Tropical Garden Challenge Competition.
National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony will be held towards the end of the year. Parents will be invited and refreshments will be served.
Last Saturday, February 25th, Saturday School began. 42 students were in attendance. They were given breakfast and McDonald's for lunch. This Saturday, students will be receiving Wendy's for lunch. If a student attends five sessions, they will be taken to the movies and out to eat for a nice lunch.
After school enrichment program - The students will be rewarded with a picnic after testing for being in attendance.
On March 31st, the students of the law studies program will be competing in the Project Citizen Competition with the guidance of Mrs. Curry-Coffee.
The students will be attending the Youth Fair on March 30th. There is a stop-list for this field trip. Students will not be permitted to attend if:
failing a class
had to attend the Success Center
more than 9 unexcused absences
more than 19 unexcused tardies
We recently gave the students a pizza party for their success in the Read 180 program.
The school hosted a spelling bee under the direction of Mr. Merrick. The winners were announced.
We recently had a lunch meeting with the CCMS student leaders to discuss different ways we can improve Country Club Middle School.
For Black History Month, we had a door decorating contest. We're waiting for the judging, There also was a luncheon for the faculty.
ESOL students attended Close Up in Tallahassee and received a Rally to Tally certificate.
March 15th at 8 a.m., there will be a PTSA meeting to select the new Executive Board.
School website looks good.
March 8th, Prado meets with supervisors to discuss school data.
Title One Saturday Academy is funded by Title One.

desires to open the library with sign in in the morning for next year

Prado responded by saying ESOL students receive tutoring in the morning in the library now but next year they will open at 7:30 a.m. and allow kids to go in.
Garo says students need motivation to do things such as iReady.


EESAC Chair Update - Ms. Miyar

Revisions of the Bylaws and changing the composition of EESAC because of our population. We have until May.
The committee needs to meet by April 6th.
March 23rd - possible cancellation of EESAC meeting
Harris motioned to cancel the meeting. Prado second. Motion unanimously approved.

New business

Contract ratification took place on February 21. The staff voted on two waivers. One for block schedule and another for 8 periods with planning everyday (4x4).
This will be presented to the region tomorrow.
This allow students with Intensive Reading and Math classes to have electives.



Parent asked about possible school fundraisers.
Prado responded by saying she is waiting for PTSA to be started to help with that.
Mrs. Garo suggested a gas station fundraiser. Where a percentage of the gas purchased from a local station will be donated to the school. She indicated that it would be a great idea to ask gas stations in the area.
Our current Dade partners are Sports Grill, YMCA, and Drubi Orthodontist.

Our next EESAC meeting will be held on April 6th.
