The meeting was called to order at 8:06 a.m. by Mrs. Alfreida Joseph-Goins in Room 39 of Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center.
In Attendance: Alfreida Joseph-Goins, Dr. Calvina Clay, Sonya Harrington, Annette Burks-Grice, Sarah Russell, Mildreca Robinson, Dr. Yvonne Parchment, and Marilyn Morning.
The minutes from the February 28, 2017 meeting were read and corrections made. Dr. Clay moved to accept the February 28, 2017 minutes with the corrections. Mrs. Grice seconded. The motion was approved.
There was no Old Business.
School Improvement:
Mrs. Grice presented the End of the Year Review of the 2016-2017 School Improvement Plan (SIP) to the instructional staff for their input at the faculty meeting held prior to this EESAC meeting. Their input was compiled and submitted.
• Academic programs and support was partially implemented. Mrs. Grice clarified certain SIP review points.
Dr. Parchment shared some of her best practice strategies she uses to teach her students.
• School culture was partially implemented.
• Professional development was fully implemented.
• School leadership was fully implemented.
The Continuous Improvement Reflection Worksheet was discussed. The EESAC members provided input on the 2016-2017 Continuous Improvement Reflection Worksheet.
Mrs. Goins shared that 80% of our students tested, especially those in the accountability group.
Mrs. Grice asked Mrs. Harrington and Dr. Parchment to provide feedback in several areas of the SIP Review (school culture, etc.). Mrs. Harrington said she will provide her feedback via email this week. Dr. Parchment remarked that if we could get students to work together they would achieve more.
Announcements/Upcoming Activities:
The school Multicultural Celebration will be held from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. on May 25, 2017.
Academy Awards Ceremony will be held on May 30, 2017. The time is TBA.
Input from Non-Council Members:
Dr. Clay thanked the EESAC members for the funds contributed to the seniors’ Transition Ceremony.
Mrs. Goins thanked the members for their support during the 2016-2017 school year.
