II. Call to Order
Ms. Deanna Rodriguez, EESAC Chairperson, called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30pm on October 19, 2017, at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA).

IV. Approval of Minutes from September 20, 2017
- Ms. Feiler made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Rodriguez seconded the motion.
- Minutes from September 20, 2017 were approved unanimously.
V. School Improvement Plan 2017-2018
- Copies are available from Dr. Blanco upon request.
- SIP 2017-2018 was approved last month.
- Goals for the SIP align to raising proficiency in Math and ELA Learning Gains of lowest 25%.
VI. Recruitment Update
- Students attended Ponce de Leon Middle and Kenwood K-8 Magnet Fairs with Dr. Blanco and Ms. Ledo to help recruit new students for the 2018-2019 school year.
-ISPA has been represented at 10 Magnet Fairs thus far. We will be attending around 20 more before the Magnet Fair application deadline.
- Tours are available every Tuesday.
- Magnet Fair Open House will be on December 6, 2017 at 6:00 PM.
VII. EESAC By-Laws/Revisions
- The by-laws were reviewed and no revisions made.
VIII. PTSA Update
- October PTSA meeting was a huge success.
- Mediterranean Cocktail event will be on February 2, 2018 at the house of the French Consulat.
- PTSA will assist with Winter Formal, as needed.
- “I AM ISPA” shirt has been a great fundraiser. Different colors will be made to be sold throughout the year.
- Next week is the Papa John’s fundraiser. PTSA will receive a portion of the profit for every pizza sold with code ISPA.
- This year six board members will be leaving. Recruitment for new board members has already begun.
IX. New Business
- Interviews for Biology position are taking place.
- New Italian teacher, Ms. Pukall, started on Monday.
- Currently ISPA is going through the Magnet Certification process, as well as applying for Magnet Schools of America and Colegio del Año.
- Ms. Oliverio was awarded Italian Teacher of the Nation.
- Ms. Milian took the SAT last Saturday, and Ms. Pascal is scheduled to take it in November.
- The College Tour will be on November 1st – 3rd. Thirty-six students will be attending with four chaperones.
- The Spain trip is still pending approval, as out-of-country travel has not gone to the board for approval.
- Giorgio has taken the initiative to create a recycling project for ISPA. He is working out the details before finalizing it and presenting to the ISPA.
X. Adjournment
- Ms. Feiler moved to adjourn the meeting and Ms. Rodriguez seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 3:10pm.
