There was no Old Business.
New Business:
Mrs. Grice shared information and explained the contents of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan. Our goal to involve parents continues to be a struggle. Because of this, all school activities are planned so that parents can participate. The Parent Engagement Plan requests that we use EESAC funds for incentives to celebrate all student academics and attendance. A vote was held to use the $360.00 to provide these incentives. The vote was unanimous to apply these funds for that purpose.
Mrs. Dominguez asked if we are open to having more community involvement. Mrs. Goins and Mrs. Grice explained that we are open to this and spoke on the parenting needs. Our girls need real life parenting skills.
Two action steps have been added. The early warning goal regarding attendance has been removed. Mrs. Goins said that changes may still be made after the School Board meeting on December 6, 2017. She also stated she will provide copies of the revised School Improvement Plan to members.
Dr. Parchment asked if we have any information on COPEs graduates how or what theyve done after leaving COPE.
Mrs. Grice noted that it would be beneficial to have a follow-up plan in place an individual who would be responsible for tracking our graduates. She stated that we do not have the manpower in place at this time.
Mrs. Dominguez said she would like to have a day for former students to come back and tell current students what they have done since leaving COPE.
Mrs. Harrington asked why the attendance goal was deleted from our School Improvement Plan. Mrs. Goins explained how attendance was aligned to academics.
Student Jada Garcia said she was interested in changing the schools uniform policy by adding uniform shorts to the authorized apparel.
Mrs. Goins provided Jada with the proper procedures necessary to address her suggestion.
Mrs. Grice suggested students and their parents/guardians come to the EESAC meeting to request a change in the uniform policy.
Announcements:
Mrs. Grice informed members present that January 8, 2018 would be Ms. Russells last day and the Council would need a new secretary.
All EESAC members were invited to the Bar-B-Que Bash on December 22, 2017.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:51 a.m.
