Minutes:
The minutes from September 11, 2018 were provided for review (hard copies). A motion for approval of the EESAC meeting minutes with noted corrections was made by Dr. Calvina Clay and seconded by Dr. Ruby Jenkins. The minutes were adopted.
Ms. Europe stated that based on the last meeting (9/11/2018) there were some issues with the color and design of the mascot. She asked if any members had any questions regarding the butterfly mascot.
Ms. Edouard informed members that last school year she had a meeting at the District office and they wanted to know what is our school’s mascot. She researched to find out the official mascot and there was no official record on file.
Ms. Edouard stated it was noted that the body wanted pink and blue color being that there are none in the real world. Ms. Edouard asked if we want a real butterfly or a representation of our school colors?
Dr. Jenkins stated we could use an artistic license by having students design a butterfly because our students are all different. Some members commented the pink and blue colors are fine.
Dr. Clay shared copies of sample butterflies. Ms. Edouard stated we need to ensure trademark or license is clear to copy the butterfly. Dr. Clay suggested that we could get students to draw the butterfly mascot and inform them not to use the internet.
Dr. Jenkins suggested we have students enter a butterfly drawing contest. Then the students would own it.
A motion was made by Dr. Jenkins to allow students to draw a pink and blue butterfly and seconded by Ms. M. Morning.
Composition Waiver Request:
Ms. Edouard addressed the May, 2018 meeting minutes regarding the composition waiver. She read that Ms. Gilbert made a motion to reduce the parent number from 4 to 3 and increase the business partners from 4 to 5. The rationale is because it is difficult to get parents to the meetings compared to business partners.
The bylaws will be sent to the body and reviewed prior to our next meeting. The bylaws have not been reviewed since 2009-2010 school year.

SIP Goals in Action:
Ms. Edouard stated The SIP has been approved by the District and EESAC Committee. We are currently in Phase I & II of implementation. We will review the SIP in phases and revisit our practices and update it using the District review.
An Instructional Review (IR) is scheduled for today. The IR team will visit our classrooms and provide feedback which we will use to develop our Action Plan. Currently we are in testing mode: Baseline and Retakes.
Our school’s rating is based on Reading and Math learning gains and percent of students tested. All math is being provided online through Florida Virtual School. We are working to provide instructional support in math. Last year we were rated maintaining and our goal this 2018-2019 school year is commendable.
On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, we will host our Title 1 Meeting from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
Open House: Begins at 6:30pm immediately following Title 1 meeting.
Title 1 Parent Resources Room: Will also be open for parents to visit. Members were encouraged to attend.
Ms. Natalia Coletti, (Dade Partner) provided information regarding their services and the new Reach Out and Read program which is housed in the CHI Health Suite at our school. She also informed members of the Read to Learn program which is a free monthly book club for all 3-year-olds. Flyers were distributed to members.
Prior to adjournment, there was no further input from members.
Ms. Europe adjourned meeting at 8:57am
