Mrs. Morning informed members the Parent Resource Center in room 19 is open now. She stated the audit was a success and the auditor informed her our school was one of the best. Only 2 issues were sited: 1. School letter should be sent to parents informing them of assessment dates. 2. The Parent/Family Engagement Plan(PFEP) needs further discussion in future EESAC meetings. She suggested that at the beginning of the year, we discuss at the PFEP meeting ideas/activities on how to get parents more involved/engaged in our school and their child’s education. Also members were encouraged to visit the Parent Resource Center.

“Principal and Pizza,” has already been held. In addition, Language Arts/Reading teachers have earned WIDA certification. An Instructional Focus Calendar will be implemented beginning Dec. 10, 2018.
Science/Math: Math students are being served through FLVS and we are awaiting the position to be filled. Students have taken Topic Tests 1& 2. The 8th graders are doing very well in science. Science/Biology- As discussed throughout the School Improvement Plan (SIP), we are using strategies such as bell ringers, exit tickets, notebooks, and higher order thinking skills, CERs. Also integration of writing and math are used in students science reports. Students are doing cross-curriculum projects (Chemistry and Physical Science) sponsored by Fairchild Gardens to present what they have researched to NASA representatives.
Social Studies: Ms. Europe mentioned that during the District’s Voter Registration drive, we had 12 students to register. They were elated to receive their voting cards prior to election day. Student scores were good compared to district averages; Topic Test #1: class average 61% and District average 63%. Topic Test#2: District average 68% and class average 57%. At least 50% of students will earn a level 3 or better. School-wide literacy initiative is being used in Social Studies classes such as essential questions, bell ringers and CERs.
