SIP Review/Updates
Goals and strategies
We are continuing to look at our teaching practices and reinforce best practices during common planning. (Quintero)

We are finishing phase 3/quarter 3 for the SIP. We will conduct walkthroughs and determine what steps we need to take for the next phase. We have completed all of our goals for phase 3/ quarter 3 except for recognizing the teachers with perfect attendance. We wanted to give them their gift card during the next faculty meeting to celebrate that accomplishment. (Riaz)

i-Ready
Growth monitoring started today. We are currently looking at our new projected proficiency rate that iReady just re-released and for grades 3, 4 and 5 in reading we are looking at 41% and math 60%. We are really close to a “B”! (Riaz)

Math Topic Assessments-
We plan to meet during math common planning and keep the teachers updated of their students’ performance on Topic Assessments. (Riaz).

FSA Weekly Assessments
Grades 3, 4, and 5 are doing FSA test prep during Small group instruction time. Grades K, 1,and 2 are doing SAT test prep during small group instruction. The teachers are following a schedule in which we are doing our best to meet all the needs of the students. The teachers are working hard to make sure the students receive all the benefits they can get from debriefing a test. (Quintero)

What benefits are the students getting? (Thompson)

The students are being taught to use best test taking strategies like annotating the text and dissecting the questions. (Quintero)

During small group instruction the teachers are teaching the students at their level and showing them how to do their best on a reading passage. The students read the stories and then the teachers read it with them. Then they look at their questions and they explain why a specific answer is the correct one. (Galceran)

New Business
We were not chosen to be a 5,000 Role Models school. We are on a waiting list (Welch)
For the first time in a long time we beat Ms. Santana’s Class on AR. I think we should reward students who are reading. We used to do that a long time ago it was called “I Caught You Reading”. Everyone could do it. Securities, and teachers, would be given a little paper and once the students collect enough they could earn a prize. The kids loved it and it helped increase positive behavior because they were reading in the cafeteria during lunch time. (Jerry)

Yes, I saw one student reading while others were on their phones and I told this student he can get one thing from the treasure chest. (Johnson)

They are so motivated to read now! They want to be the winning class in AR! (Jerry)

Comments/ Concerns:
I went to an Early Childhood meeting and we are picking up supplies for the Big Hands/ Little Hands in Spring View Elementary. It’s on 4-19-19 from 9am-12pm. If you have any supplies to donate you can give them to me and I will take it to them. You can donate paper, glue sticks, gift cards anything really. (Welch)

Will the clocks be fixed before testing? (Jerry)

Yes, they are still working on it. (Riaz)
